These are types Nate has a physical AND emotional attraction to. These would be types Nate has engaged in a deep or meaningful conversation with in some way at least once and finds himself being slightly nervous and fidgety when speaking with them. He may start to blush or get randomly shy when talking to these people. He may also feel an overwhelming need to help, support, or please them without question. Perhaps gift them things if he truly finds them romantically interesting. He would likely try to show off or stand up for them in some way too if he finds an attraction there. There would be no arguments between these types really, and it would be alot of hesitation and tension during conversations and emotional investment with "out there" conversations and day dreaming. Nate would try and journey with these types as much as he can asking more and more about them.

Someone who can be happy in another's accomplishments and not grow jealous. Someone to celebrate success with. Someone that gives a deep sense of having Nate's back. This connection with Nate is rarely ever negative.

Nate considers these types of people those he can confide in from time to time and talk to about certain things In his life, but maybe not everything. These types are people he can instantly come back to into a conversation from years ago or a memory from years ago, and pick up right where they left off. But at the same time, are not too clingy or selfish, but friends that can give equally back in terms of support and companionship, whom are not too negative, and whom do not gauge for attention too often. Friends that can ask for help, but not constantly. Some disagreements are ok, but must not happen regularly.

These are people that Nate would sometimes journey or work with, but never on purpose or regularly. Every now and then Nate can have a conversation with these types but it would never lead anywhere unless it had to in a group circumstance or for the purpose of accomplishing some big feat that would require a hefty amount of people or teamwork. These types Nate would never check in with unless he would pass them by on a street or path. Sometimes they may be considered competition even, but never all the time. And the exchanges are generally friendly and upbeat, but at times, silence is the best medicine if Nate isn't feeling it for the day.

These are types Nate would have little to no interest in. He maybe would have seen or met them once with faint memory, but nothing more. These may be types he also wants to forget or lost connection with due to one thing or another. These types would have to work extremely hard to get Nate's attention; otherwise they get no more than a nod or a slight smile. Seeing as Nate can be very introverted at first, he really wouldn't prefer engaging too much with these people.

These are types Nate has seen battling their Pokemon or exhibiting great power or doing something brave or helping solve a big problem and rousing a group or community. These are types Nate would likely see in a very public setting or perhaps in media and then so happen to meet them in real life; with the time coming to get close and personal with these people, Nate would likely shut down, thinking of himself as unworthy of their time and say very little. He would feel intimidated and have to think to himself how he needs to grow or become better or stronger somehow before even communicating properly with them and match their level. Unless there was some big emergency or a very lucky circumstance, Nate can't see himself directly interacting with these types other than in his own head or by observing from afar.

These are people Nate has had a history with, mostly good, some maybe intense or almost bad but generally decent history. People that Nate bickers with time to time - people that have disagreed with Nate in different ways, but eventually finds common ground. Perhaps even someone who Nate didn't like immediately, or seemed to emit a negative energy at times. Someone who at times would engage in a Pokemon battle or intense verbal debate with Nate and might also be determined to grow strong with the same fire Nate has. Despite all this, Nate will always have a lingering rivalry with these types, they counterbalance and humble each other , thus creating a mindset of a rival and a need to check each other's strengths and hold each other accountable for things. There may be times where he has to work with these types, and he likely sees these types alot even though it wouldn't be always on purpose, but despite the banter and usual disagreements, they seem to have each other's backs and mostly know when a line needs drawing. And whenever teamwork is needed with the two, there is no other feeling like it and they work together in perfect harmony.

-Sworn Enemies-

These are types that have no regard or respect for Nate or his friends and Pokemon. Someone that also might commit crimes to get what they want or flaunt their power or status without remorse. These types would likely bet or wager something sentimental if ever in a battle or competition or worse; even bet their own Pokemon against someone else's just because they are that confident in achieving victory and have an insatiable appetite for power and promoting strength. People that are extremely negative fall into this category and are all about themselves and getting stronger having no care for their Pokemon or anyone else around them. Nate would not hesitate to fight them and ensure they don't hurt others by knocking sense into them.

Hello, fellow gym challenger!

Considering that both August and @natefyre are on the gym challenge path, I imagine they'll encounter each other at some point in time. We'll have to have some open threads in the upcoming cities so they can at least meet, pass each other by, learn each other's names, etc. Perhaps they can eventually become friendly rivals, if August starts to care more about said gym challenge.

I feel as if August and Nate are two different types of protagonists. Nate seems more enthusiastic, wanting to make the world a better place. August is more of the, "I'll be the hero if I have no choice or if no one else is going to clean up this mess." They're both on the same side of the law (most of the time) but have different ideologies. I think they'd be interesting to thread together!

I can definitely see this dynamic between them! If you've ever seen the anime Fairy Tail I can see a Natsu and Gray relationship or depending on how the two develop overtime, a Natsu and Jellal sort of dynamic. If we're talking My Hero Academia - Izuku and Katsuki - even simpler - Goku and Vegeta types. I can see some bickering between ideals, but I can also see them having each others backs. I can see a friendly rivalry for sure. It would be an amazing thread to have them meet trying to get stronger against Pokemon in the wild or perhaps right before a big gym battle or maybe during a training session. I would say they'd probably battle each other at least once or twice so definitely would like to see it develop! I will add him to my list and change the description of rival a bit so its less - enemy like haha.

Thoughts on these two. They're around the same area at the moment -- Greenberry Woods -- and I was going to invite @natefyre to join Kris's thread or see if they wanted to meet up in Falldale Town or something.

But then I was thinking that both of them are Hoenn natives and close to the same age. I imagine Kris's time through Hoenn also included not-so-favorable encounters with Team Magma before an unnamed trainer disbanded them, and she'd be extremely suspicious of a dude still wearing their memorabilia. I don't think she'd outright attack/accuse him of anything, but if we would like to play them as eventual friends, they may have a rocky beginning. Kris's suspicions of him may even extend to her Pokemon that traveled through Hoenn with her, which could result in some interesting dynamics between his and her Pokemon.

Just a couple of thoughts. I'm interested in seeing how they'll meet!

I think that would be awesome. Why not have them meet in Greenberry Woods - the sooner the better so we can get something brewing that can last overtime BEFORE the gym leaders occur. They can go through that journey together. I wonder if we can also tie in Nate's dad with your history in Hoenn perhaps? Perhaps you met or battled Nate's father before in the past, or at least met him. Since he used to be on Team Magma. His father definitely felt guilty and bad before the end of his life being a Magma member though. He could have even been ranked up to a leader type on that team. You can PM me or reply here how you plan to make the two of them meet; a new thread or just jump in an already made one? I am down for either.

Yay! I'm down for them to meet the sooner the better. I'm not quite sure if Kris would remember/know the names of any Magma grunts that she battled, but it'd be an interesting topic to explore between these two.

If you'd like to join my Greenberry Woods thread, feel free to. It's basically just training/going through to get to Falldale, . Otherwise, if we wanted to have them meet at, say, the Greenberry Woods Pokemon Center when their training threads are just about done, that's cool too.

Seeing your posts, I love how positive and endearing you portray Nate! Like, he's so enthusiastic and excited about training and making the world a better place!

Sadie's reaction to him would be:

She would probably be absolutely baffled and think he's naive, especially since he's a good few years older than her (Sadie is also a Hoenn native, but I think she would have been just a bit too young for the Team Magma and Team Aqua fiasco; she would have heard of it, probably, but as far as she's concerned, it's all history). Both essentially have the same goals in that they want to take on the gym challenge, enter the Hall of Fame, possibly become gym leaders, etc., but Sadie is definitely more of a hard-ass when it comes to reaching those goals than Nate, by the sounds of it. They're both passionate, but his is shown with enthusiasm and hers is shown through sheer stubbornness, in my opinion.

As such, I don't know how they would react to one another. They may find each other annoying, a true rivalry although maybe not outright enemies. Respect may begrudgingly be earned between the two of them in time, and I imagine if there's something threatening the world, they'll both team up and take it on. I think it would be fun to thread them together once in a while!
