Tags: Mod Kurt for wild Pokemon and foraging, and open for anyone else who wants to be social. Happiness continued from Greenberry Woods Peddler. Pokemon Happiness: Trek (Max), Fang (Max), Nani (2/5), Canvas (2/5)What were the last woods that Kristen traveled through? Probably Sinnoh's Eterna Forest, if she was being honest, but that was probably a little bigger than the Greenberry Woods. Kristen knew there was some forest elsewhere in Ascua as well, something that probably rivaled Kanto's Viridian Forest.
She double-checked her pack again, was satisfied that she would have enough medicine for the trip through the woods, and kept going forward. Trek himself didn't seem too perturbed at the idea of going through the woods, the Grovyle being confident in his prowess. Trek would be much for the wild Pokemon in the woods, but Kristen did want to take the time to level up Nani and Canvas a little before they reached Falldale.
"After reaching Falldale, we'll probably take a quick trip home to be sure the ranch hasn't burned down," she mentioned to Trek, who gave her a deadpanned look for her choice of words. Kristen smiled and said, "Let's see what we find around here..."

The woodlands were full of the sounds of nature and Pokemon alike. A gentle wind blew through the trees, bringing with it the chirps of many bird Pokemon and the buzz of those part Bug.
A Comfey floated by, the Pokemon resembling a ring of flowers as it levitated through the air. It giggled while passing by Kris and Trek. A Shroomish hopped by as well as a pair of Ledyba flying through. Not many seemed to give Kris and her Pokemon a passing glance, although some may be inclined to a battle should Kris ask. Kris Parker

Tags: Mod Kurt, double battle with the Ledyba? Pokemon Happiness: Trek (Max), Fang (Max), Nani (3/5), Canvas (3/5)Kristen couldn't help but smile as she recognized most of the Pokemon around her. The flower-crown Pokemon wasn't as familiar, and Kristen snapped a picture of it with her cell phone before it fully floated away. She didn't regret settling down with her Pokemon teams, but she was a little down that there had been a couple of known regions she hadn't traveled through.
Not so much Alola, to be honest. She was sure it was a beautiful place, but a region consisting of islands was not something her seasick-prone self wanted to experience.
A pair of Ledyba passed by, and Kristen asked the two, "Up for a battle?" before tossing out both Nani and Canvas for a little experience points.

The Ledyba paused momentarily when they realized that the human was speaking to them. Upon seeing the Rockruff and Blipbug emerge from their pokeballs, the Ledyba seemed favorable to a battle.
Indeed, one of the Ledyba started things off with a Supersonic towards Nani.

Tags: Mod Kurt Pokemon Happiness: Trek (Max), Fang (Max), Nani (4/5), Canvas (4/5)The Ledyba seemed receptive to the idea of a battle and kicked things off with a Supersonic to Nani. Nani merely tilted her head and gave it a shake, the attack failing. Canvas seemed to inch closer to his teammate, unsure what was going on, and Kris felt Trek shift beside her. Her Grovyle was ready to jump in if he was ever needed. Kris hoped that both of her newest Pokemon would follow her commands just fine. "Nani, use Leer and then Tackle the Ledyba on your left," she said, indicating the female Ledyba. "Canvas," Kris said, and the Blipbug perked up as if realizing that she was talking to him, "Struggle Bug."Nani used Leer on the pair of Ledyba, both of the opposing Pokemon shuddering at the fierce look. With their defense down, Nani sprung forward and Tackled the female Ledyba. At the same time, Canvas's body glowed red for a moment before the aura extended to hit both Ledyba in their tracks. The Struggle Bug didn't do much at all. Each Ledyba chose to Tackle one of Kris's Pokemon. The female Ledyba went for Nani while the male went for Canvas. Canvas was squarely hit but seemed fine as he got back up. Nani, unfortunately, got hit and then tripped over her own paws, her Tackle towards the female Ledyba missing. Canvas geared up and used a second Struggle Bug attack on both of the Ledyba, whittling away their HP. "C'mon, Nani," Kris called, hoping the Rockruff would be able to get up and help her teammate. "You got this! Use another Leer and Tackle!"Nani did get to her feet and gave herself a good shake, the little pebbles that made up her neck scruff clacking together with the movement. She seemed eager despite her clumsiness and was ready to follow Kristen's commands once again. The Ledyba took the time to Tackle each of her Pokemon again, but Nani was ready. She took the Tackle from the female Ledya and retaliated with her own Leer and Tackle combo. The Tackle made the female Ledyba falter and Canvas's next Struggle Bug took her out completely. The male Ledyba tried to use Supersonic on Nani again before returning to Tackle Canvas, perhaps to maybe get Nani out of the way. Unfortunately, the Supersonic failed again and Nani was able to Tackle the second Ledyba right after it attacked Canvas. Both Ledyba went down. "Great job, both of you!" Kris praised. Nani wagged her tail at the praise while Canvas tilted his head. Kris wasn't sure if the Blipbug was a little confused after his first trainer battle or not, but he seemed fine otherwise. He began crawling over to Kris and Trek gave the Blipbug a hand, carrying him over, and Kristen fed him an Oran berry to help keep up his strength, the berry bringing him back up to full health. Nani seemed fine herself and actually began following her nose somewhere down the path. "Let's keep going," Kristen said. After the Ledyba retreated, Kris and her Pokemon continued on their way.
If they looked closer, just off the beaten path and hiding among the shadows of the brush, there was a Cacnea staring up at them. The cactus-like Pokemon was motionless, possibly freezing itself so no movements would draw attention to itself.
Quite the opposite, a Grookey appeared in a tree above the trainer and having a grand time beating on the tree limbs with its stick, making music for the woodlands to hear.
Not everyone seemed keen on the music, though, it seemed. Near the tree's base was an Espurr, its ears tight around its head. Typically, that'd be normal, but the little Espurr seemed to be trying its hardest to block out the noise more so than usual. Kris Parker, Nani gained 4 exp. points from the female Ledyba! Canvas gained 4 exp. points from the female Ledyba! Canvas grew to level 8! Nani gained 3 exp. points from the male Ledyba! Nani grew to level 8! Nani learned Double Team! Canvas gained 3 exp. points from the male Ledyba!

Tags: Mod Kurt, we gotta go for the Grookey! Pokemon Happiness: Trek (Max), Fang (Max), Nani 6 (5/5), Canvas 6 (5/5)There was another unfamiliar Pokemon.
Kris stared up at the monkey-like Pokemon pretending the tree limb was a drum set. Judging by its habitat and coloring, Kristen guessed it was some sort of Grass-type Pokemon, but she wasn't positive.
"Canvas," she said, her Blipbug perking up at attention in Trek's hands. "Use Struggle Bug on... the monkey."
Canvas chirped out an affirmative, hopped out of Trek's hold, and did as he was told, aiming his attack on the Grookey.

The Struggle Bug hit the unsuspecting Grookey, causing it to fall out of the tree. It almost landed on its feet and turned to the offending Pokemon that had attacked it.
With a Growl, the Grookey dived forward at Canvas with a Branch Poke attack.

Tags: Mod Kurt Pokemon Happiness: Trek (Max), Fang (Max), Nani 7 (1/5), Canvas 7 (1/5)The monkey-like Pokemon gave a cry that sounded like a grunt before going after Canvas with its branch. With a hard poke, the opposing Pokemon leaped away, as if to brace itself from an expected retaliation. However, Kris noticed the Pokemon panting and she decided to the chance to lug a Pokeball at the Pokemon. Perhaps Canvas's first Struggle Bug attack had been more than enough to get it caught. The Grookey's eyes widened in surprise at the Pokeball that came towards it, and it didn't seem to know what to do when the ball bounced off of its head. Once inside the Pokeball, the Grookey struggled, making the ball shake three times before it finally stilled as the Grookey was officially caught.

Tags: Mod Kurt, totally thought I responded to this a long time ago. Pokemon Happiness: Trek (Max), Fang (Max), Nani 7 (2/5), Canvas 10 (2/5), Scribble (1/5)And then there were five.
Trek actually went and picked up the Pokeball with the monkey-like Pokemon inside. The Grovyle merely shook his head when Kristen asked aloud if he knew what kind of Pokemon it was.
"Perhaps another native to Alola," Kris murmured, thinking of the texts she'd been sending back and forth with Kurt.
"You did a great job, Canvas," Kristen praised the Blipbug. "Why don't you take a nice rest?" She returned both Canvas and Nani, and hoped that she would reach the end of the woodlands soon. The younger members of her team could use a little healing at the next town. In the meantime, she was positive Trek and Fang would be able to handle anything that came their way.
