Tags: Mod Kurt for wild Pokemon Pokemon Happiness: Trek (Max), Hoshi (Max), Vulcan (Max), Fang (Max), Nani (3/5)Route 1 was nearly as sleepy as Greenberry Town -- not that there was anything wrong with being "sleepy;" Greenberry Town itself was wonderfully pleasant -- in that it was small with not much going on. Kris heard there were usually a plethora of young Pokemon that made their home around these parts, Pokemon that generally weren't afraid of people, either because they were so close to Greenberry Town or because they were too young to know better.
Kris wasn't expecting to stay on the route too long, but it would be the perfect place to try to level up Nani a bit. Her new Rockruff deserved a taste of battle to see how she would do in one.
With that thought, Kristen released the Rockruff, who immediately shook herself when she appeared outside of her Pokeball. Nani woofed and tried to greet Trek by rubbing her rock-like neck scruff against his leg. The Grovyle tolerated it for a few seconds before skirting around to Kristen's other side.
Kristen bent down to give Nani an ear scratch and said, "What do you think? A couple of battles sound good?"
Nani gave an excited growl and nearly tripped over herself as she darted a little ahead of Kristen and Trek.

With Nani darting a little ahead, the Rockruff seemed to get too close to a berry bush. The Rock-types steps loosened an Oran berry that the little pup Pokemon sniffed at, but it appeared that a wild Pokemon had already laid claim to this berry bush.
With an anxious chatter, a Skwovet appeared and tried to Tackle Nani away from its stash.

Tags: Mod Kurt Pokemon Happiness: Trek (Max), Hoshi (Max), Vulcan (Max), Fang (Max), Nani (4/5)Just like that, Nani was attacked by an anxious Skwovet. The Tackle hit true, with Nani falling to the side, but she got up to her feet quick enough. Kris paused Trek from going to help and instead told Nani, "Leer and Tackle it right back."Nani obeyed, narrowing her eyes and glowering at the Skwovet. The Skwovet's tail bristled nervously and it was caught off-guard when Nani Tackled it in return. The Skwovet nonetheless performed another Tackle of its own, and Nani and the wild Pokemon exchanged blows until the Skwovet had enough. With an angry chatter, the Skwovet retreated. Nani panted but seemed pleased when Kristen praised her. "Great job on your first battle!" Kris said. "How are you feeling?"The Rockruff gave a pleased bark and Kristen figured she would be good for a little longer. She had Trek as back-up and plenty of medicine for the young Pokemon. The little group continued down the path to see what else they could find on their way to the Greenberry Woods Pokemon Center. With the Skwovet dashing away, Nani was able to pick up the Oran berry that had been close by.
Continuing along the path, plenty of young wild Pokemon were seen out and about. Many paused, curious about those passing by, such as a Bunnelby that was in the process of digging out a den at the base of a tree. It seemed to freeze as Kristen and company got closer.
Crawling up a tree trunk to the left of Kristen was a Blipbug, the little Pokemon twisting its torso to get a better look at the human, while a Patrat stuck its head out of a bush to the right to keep watch. Kris Parker, Nani gained 4 experience points!

Tags: Mod Kurt, engaging the Blipbug. Pokemon Happiness: Trek (Max), Hoshi (Max), Vulcan (Max), Fang (Max), Nani (5/5)Continuing on, Kris noticed a few familiar species of Pokemon and she couldn't help but smile. It had been ages since she was just on her own, traveling down a route with her Pokemon to explore and see who else they would meet.
There was an unfamiliar Pokemon, one that made her pause as she passed it by. It appeared to be a Bug-type Pokemon and Kris wondered what region it originated from. Certainly not Hoenn, Johto, or Kanto. She knew pretty much all of those species. Sinnoh she was familiar with as well, having lived there for a few years, and she had traveled through Unova once. Alola she was less familiar with, and Galar she had never been.
"Nani," she said, making her Rockruff halt. "Tackle on the Bug-type."
Nani obeyed and attempted to Tackle the wild Pokemon off of the tree trunk.

The Blipbug heard the trainer's words and took that as a warning that it was about to go into battle. It braced itself against the Rockruff's Tackle, falling semi-gracefully onto the ground before turning and using Struggle Bug against the Rock-type.

Tags: Mod Kurt Pokemon Happiness: Trek (Max), Hoshi (Max), Vulcan (Max), Fang (Max), Nani 1 (1/5)Kris was pleased that the little Bug-type seemed alright to battle. It braced itself and retaliated accordingly, and Kristen kept an eye on Nani versus the little wild Pokemon. Nani seemed to hold her own just fine, trading blows with the Bug-type, which at some point cried out something like, "Blipbug!" and Kristen made a mental note to see if that's what the Pokemon was called. She was sure the nurse at the Greenberry Woods Pokemon Center would know. Nani was smart enough to eat her found Oran berry at a good time during the battle, and one last Tackle from the Rock-type made the Blipbug sprawl on the ground. Kristen tossed a well-aimed Pokeball at the wild Pokemon, waiting to see if it would join her team. The Blipbug seemed resigned to being caught or rather too exhausted to fight the Pokeball when it was captured. The ball barely shook before it stilled.
Congratulations, Blipbug was caught!

Tags: Mod Kurt, perhaps one more wild battle? Pokemon Happiness: Trek (Max), Hoshi (Max), Vulcan (Max), Fang (Max), Nani 1 (2/5), Canvas (1/5)Kris reached over and picked up the Pokeball with the little Blipbug in it. She gave Nani an ear scratch and a quick look-over, figuring that the Oran berry left the Rockruff feeling well enough for a little while longer.
"Another friend for the Pokemon Center," Kristen said as she clipped their newest team member's Pokeball to her belt. Perhaps she'd keep the Blipbug with her as well during this trip through Ascua. After healing her Pokemon, Hoshi and Vulcan would return to the ranch and Kris would make due to with Trek, Fang, Nani, and...
"Canvas," Kris decided. "I think I'll call our newest friend Canvas. I have no idea what he'll be able to do or become, so it seems fitting, don't you think?"
Trek could only shrug but Nani yipped in, what Kristen believed, was agreement.
"C'mon," Kristen said. "Let's see what else we find."

It seemed the battle attracted another Pokemon that was willing to test its merits against the Rockruff. A Lillipup appeared, growling low under its breath with the fur on its neck bristled in anticipation for a battle. Barely waiting to see if the battle would be accepted, the Lillipup launched itself at Nani with a Tackle.

Tags: Mod Kurt, thank you! Pokemon Happiness: Trek (Max), Hoshi (Max), Vulcan (Max), Fang (Max), Nani 1 (3/5), Canvas (2/5)The Lillipup wanted a battle, and a battle it shall have! Nani was blindsided by the Lillipup's attack, but she got back to her feet quickly enough to retaliate with her own Tackle. The Lillipup had some strategy skills, it seemed, for it glared fiercely at Nani in a Leer to make the Rockruff shudder and lower her defenses. The next Tackle smarted a bit more, but Nani again got back to her feet. At her trainer's command, Nani used Sand Attack to lower Lillipup's accuracy before Tackling again. Fortunately, the Sand Attack worked enough to allow Nani not to get hit again by Lillipup, and one last Tackle from Nani sent Lillipup fleeing. The Lillipup ran away after a good battle against the Rockruff, nearly running over a Spewpa that had been trying to cross over the path.
The Spewpa was momentarily disorientated before continuing on its way towards a berry bush that had a couple of ripe Oran berries for the picking. It seemed that there was three available at the top, right at Trek's height.
The route was otherwise quiet. Kris Parker, Nani gained 4 experience points! Nani grew to level 7!

Tags: Mod Kurt, done with the thread Pokemon Happiness: Trek (Max), Hoshi (Max), Vulcan (Max), Fang (Max), Nani 7 (4/5), Canvas (3/5)Passing by the berry bush, Trek did swipe the three Oran berries, opting to pass them along to Kris. She thanked her Pokemon and put the berries away.
"C'mon, Nani," Kris said, getting her Rockruff's Pokeball ready. "Return and get some rest."
Nani returned to her Pokeball without a fuss, and Kristen and Trek finished up the route themselves. It was quiet, pleasant, and Kristen was looking forward to spending some further time on the road with her Pokemon. The Greenberry Woods' entrance and the Pokemon Center was just up ahead. Some healing for her Pokemon and a bit more training for the younger ones would be wonderful.
