"A bit, admittedly," Morgan said when Kurt asked if it was strange to be in a place that lacked so many cities. "Of course, I'm sure Ascua has some sizable cities and resorts, like Blue River Valley... Which is in the middle of the sea rather than by a river, isn't it?"
Morgan definitely needed to do some training with her Pokemon. She needed to become more confident in herself and them so she could venture out more into the region.
She heard the wistfulness in Kurt's tone and wondered if he got homesick often. Morgan had been so tired from her new routine that she hadn't much time to be homesick herself, but she also had ways to keep in touch with her family.
Then Kurt paused and Morgan suddenly feared that she had somehow offended him by asking about how long Kris and he had worked together. It had seemed like an innocent question, but the way it took Kurt a few moments to think of a response...
Fortunately, it appeared he had just been doing some mental math. "That long? Wow," Morgan said. "No wonder you two seem to work so well together."
She followed Kurt dutifully, being sure Vivi was still with them and the Ralts egg didn't jostle too much from her steps. "What was the original Gaia Ranch like? If you don't mind me being so nosy." Pokemon Happiness: Vivi 1 (3/5), Horos 1 (3/5), Illume 1 (3/5) Ralts Egg: 8/20 Kurt Emerson

Kurt laughed when Morgan pointed out that Ascua's resort city wasn't exactly named for its geographical features. "That's true," he said. "It is a great place from the looks of it, though. It was where Kris and I had a connecting flight from Sinnoh to Gaia Island. That place was huge. We should all take a field trip there at some point."
He smiled softly when Morgan sounded in awe of how long Kris and he had known each other, as well as complimented how they worked well together. The little group reached the water's edge and he whistled to bring out the Water-types for breakfast. As they all began to gather, Kurt tried to think of a response about the original Gaia Ranch.
"Crowded," he said with a chuckle. "It was crowded in a good way, though. The house was kind of a mish-mash of additions and all of us needed roommates because at times there were so many caretakers that it was impossible to have enough bedrooms for all of us, but the land was large and full of Pokemon. We all had our own group of Pokemon to care for, each of us with our own specialties, but we all helped each other out.
"We were always tripping over each other and many Pokemon, both literally and figuratively," he added, "but I really enjoyed the closeness. Having my own ranch here is amazing, but... There are definitely times when I miss having a ready-made family of other people, you know?
"What about you?" Kurt asked. "You mentioned having siblings. Is it a little weird being on your own on a ranch?" Pokemon Happiness: Coconut 1 (4/5) Morgan Porter

Morgan giggled at the idea of all the ranchers having a field day at Blue River Valley. "I feel like we'd all stick out like a Cramorant in a flock of Pidgey," she said. "It would be nice to visit the mainland with everyone, though. Hopefully we'll get the chance someday."
Kurt described the original Gaia Ranch, and Morgan was honestly surprised that the first word he used for it was crowded. Her eyebrows raised as he continued on, and if Morgan wasn't claustrophobic, the original Gaia Ranch may have changed that had she ever been part of it.
Still, Kurt's voice was full of fondness as he recalled the original Gaia Ranch and Morgan wondered how difficult the transition from a smaller, crowded ranch to his own ranch of multiple acres was for him.
"This may sound a little corny," Morgan said, "but getting to know other ranchers and trainers is one of the reasons as to why I moved here. Maybe all of us here on the island will become our own little family."
She watched as Kris's Water-types appeared for breakfast (and totally didn't consider getting a Gyarados of her own when Kris's appeared and spooked Vivi enough to cling to Morgan's leg), and listened to Kurt's question about her siblings.
"A little," she admitted. "We keep in touch a lot, though, and they both left home before I did, so I suppose it's not too different not having them around. Do you have any siblings?" Pokemon Happiness: Vivi 1 (4/5), Horos 1 (4/5), Illume 1 (4/5) Ralts Egg: 9/20 Kurt Emerson

"Oh, absolutely we would," Kurt said with a smirk, responding to Morgan's comment about all the ranchers resembling Cramorant if they all went somewhere on the mainland. "It'd be a lot of fun, though, I'm sure. There are some places I would like to really visit and explore, though. There's a Safari Zone near one of the port cities, for example, and I think there's a Game Corner somewhere in the region, too."
His smirk turned into a grin as Morgan made a corny (her words, not his) comment about the ranchers becoming a family of their own. "That's what I'm looking forward to," he said. "I think we're well on our way for that, right? Storm, you have to share."
Kurt's attention was snatched by Kris's Gyarados, and he made sure that all of the other aquatic Pokemon had their fair share of breakfast as well. Coconut had backed away from the water and was close by Morgan and Vivi, happy enough to keep his distance.
"Uh, no, no siblings for me," Kurt said, answering Morgan's question as he dusted his hands off from the Pokemon food. "It's good to hear that you keep in touch with your siblings, though. If they're traveling around this region, hopefully they'll come and visit one day.
"I'm about set for now," he added. "If you're still up for it, we can head to the lake or woods. Up to you." Pokemon Happiness: Coconut 1 (5/5) Notes: Figured we can wrap this one up and start a new thread at Mirror Lake? Morgan Porter

"I've heard of Safari Zones in other regions," Morgan admitted. "Unova didn't have one, though. That would definitely be an interesting place to visit." The Game Corner didn't sound too bad at all, either, but Morgan wasn't quite sure of gambling in general. Still, if all the ranchers went together for a little while, she was sure it'd be fun.
She shared Kurt's grin with a gentle one of her own when he agreed on the idea of the ranchers becoming a family, and she didn't get a chance to comment in return. Storm the Gyarados took away Kurt's attention and Coconut backed up to be near Vivi and herself. Moving slowly, Morgan reached down and gave Coconut a small pat on the head as Kurt finished up.
"I've invited them," Morgan said, regarding her siblings. "We'll see if they ever show up one day."
To Kurt mentioning he was all set and was curious if she still wanted to visit either of the other parts of the island, Morgan nodded. "I'm still good to go. Shall we head to the lake, then?" She figured that would be the easiest for Kurt, what with it being closer to his place.
"And thank you," she said, "again." Pokemon Happiness: Vivi 1 (5/5), Horos 1 (5/5), Illume 1 (5/5) Ralts Egg: 10/20 Kurt Emerson, all set! I'll start a thread.
