Mod Kris OR Mod KurtStatus: Hopeful These days it seemed Nate practically lived in these woods. He didn't really go much elsewhere since the Pokemon around these parts were the perfect levels to help boost Nate's team and plenty strong enough to keep them on their toes and help them grow closer to winning a Gym Badge. Nate had no clue how strong the Gym Leader to come was, or what to expect from their fighting style or personality. For so long Nate had been unaware of the wonders of being a Pokemon Trainer until he migrated to this area from his homeland of Hoenn and quickly learned how powerful the bond between Pokemon and Trainer can be; and how magical the art of battling truly is. Before diving deep into the woods once again, Nate had some matters to attend to. He sent out a freshly obtained Pokemon to his team he didn't get to be much acquainted with as of late since it was a gift Pokemon he acquired from some local breeders in the region. With a toss of its Poke Ball Nate sent out MoonClaw. It was a Teddiursa of all things - a rare and hard to find Pokemon that loved to hide deep in the mountains. He got very lucky indeed to have it on his team. Though a typically weaker Pokemon to start, these creatures had alot of personality and potential to become a force to be reckoned with. MoonClaw beats its big doe like eyes at Nate and suddenly runs up to his leg and gives him a tight hug with a single tear drop coming out of each eye. As if it was happy to really see it's trainer up close for the first time. To the Pokemon, Nate was the closest thing to a father figure or really, any role model or family it had. Freshly hatched from an egg, the little Teddiursa was innocent and fresh to the world, and Nate had all the opportunity ever to mold it to his will. He kneels down and pets the Pokemon's head with a smile. "Nice to formally meet you, MoonClaw. To think I have been carrying you around on my team all this time and did nothing but name you so far. I think it's time we give you some training no?" Nate takes out a Rare Candy he had and presents it to the Pokemon. "Why don't we start you off on the right track and have you eat this, hmm?" MoonClaw was confused at first, and looked at Nate longingly as if wondering if it was really ok to eat the strange candy. Nate unwraps the candy for the Pokemon and raises it to its lips. "Go on. It's safe. And delicious. I promise." MoonClaw gives a joyous cry and agrees to Nate's offer. He swipes the candy from his Trainer's hand and gobbles it down. The Pokemon shivers with an overwhelming and exciting sensation. It then cheers loving the taste of the treat and spins around overtaken by its deliciousness. It then leaps into Nate's arms and hugs him again thankful for the food. The candy itself has made it stronger with little effort and Nate was glad to see it noticed. "So glad you enjoyed that! And glad I am starting to see your personality really come out little guy! I can tell you'll be a clingy one. But a strong one in the end." Nate chuckles and pets MoonClaw lovingly again. It chuckles back appreciating the love. "But now I have another little bear to attend to." Nate takes out Pericles's Poke Ball and sends him out as well. Pericles pops out folding its arms and looking at Nate wondering what he needed. It then blinked and noticed the Teddiursa while tilting its head. Nate introduced them. "Pericles, this is your little brother, MoonClaw. Say hello!" MoonClaw rushes over to Pericles and hugs him. Pericles flails about not liking the affection at all and screams. "Pancham Cham GAAAH!" MoonClaw only hugs tighter. Nate slowly pulls them apart. "Now now, Pericles likes his space ok?" Nate advises the Teddiursa and he starts to cry. First slow tears, then a stream. Nate panics. "HEY come on! It's ok! It's just some Pokemon like their space!" MoonClaw was too busy with its streams of teardrops to hear Nate's plea. Pericles seems nervous and worried with sweat dripping from its head. It hops back terrified thinking MoonClaw was an unpredictable mess that it did not want to deal with. Nate sighs and kneels down picking MoonClaw up and staring at it with focus and attentiveness. "I promise you, Pericles DOES like you. He just needs time to adjust to you, and he will be able to appreciate your hugs. Just not yet ok?" Suddenly MoonClaw stops its tears, and nods with a smile. Nate sets it back down and gestures Pericles to reassure it with a nudge of his head. Pericles groans caving in and gives MoonClaw a pat on the back slightly to try and comfort it with as least effort and affection as possible. MoonClaw's dimples raise and it grins ear to ear liking the small care Pericles was giving it. It nuzzles Pericles growing fond him just as it grew fond of Nate rather quickly. Nate was happy to see them getting along. "Fantastic to see you two getting well acquainted. Now, Pericles, I got something for you." Nate takes out another piece of candy, but this one was different than the other, and a bit smaller. He unwraps it and hands it to Pericles. The panda raises a brow and curiously grabs it. He sniffs it and his ears twitch as his eyes light up. He starts to drool and then consumes it with one big bite. Instantly he shutters and his fur stands on end. That feeling turns into bliss as he cups his paws together enjoying the aftertaste and spinning around with euphoria. MoonClaw thinks this is fun, and joins Pericles with the spinning. After the candy was properly digested, Pericles flexes his muscles feeling stronger. He then starts doing other poses and positions at MoonClaw and the Teddiursa starts to extract its claws and growls. Nate just now realizes what was going on. "Pericles, I think you just learned a new move! That's Taunt! And we should NOT be using it on our fellow teammates!" Pericles seemed to have grown quite a bit stronger from the treat and learned a new move along with it! "Knock that off ok? We can save it for a real battle." Pericles stops its flaunting and crosses its arms again grunting. It would obey until it could use it later for an unforgiving foe. After it stopped, MoonClaw calmed down and looked around blinking in a daze. Nate giggles and addresses his Teddiursa. "Its ok little one, Pericles was just using its new move - Taunt. It didn't mean to rile you up!" MoonClaw still seemed lost as to what went down. And goes back to its default of being cuddly and hugs Nate's leg again. "Ok you two, I think you both can return for now. I hope you enjoyed your treats! Hopefully there's more to come whenever I get my hands on some!" He takes out their Poke Balls and returns the both of them. He was satisfied officially meeting MoonClaw and making both him and Pericles a bit stronger. But it was time to get serious and train for real. Battling to get stronger without candy was more fun. He sent out Ruby and amped her up. "Ok girl, are you ready for more training and fun?" Ruby barked wagging its tail and cutely stretches downward getting any kinks out of its legs and back for some spry battling to come. "I take that as a yes! Ok, let's get started! Back to the woods we go. Maybe if we're lucky, we could see that Stantler again!" Nate didn't have any obsession to catch it, but if it came to that he wouldn't mind. But battling it would certainly be worthwhile to him and Ruby. He remembered it looked quite strong. After his thoughts began to dance in his head, and some of his Pokemon have grown quickly in level, he was ready to get back to the nitty gritty and the rush of battling starting with Ruby and her itch to get tougher. He began down the trail towards the thick of the woods, going as deep as he could this time into the brush to find some challenging bouts and gain much needed experience. ___________________________________________ (Shadow) -Lvl. 07 - Knock Off, Screech, Ominous Wind, Night Shade - IC Happiness 4/5(Ruby) -Lvl. 05 - Tackle, Howl, - IC Happiness 4/5(Phantom) -Lvl. 06 - Scratch, Growl, Sand Attack, Fake Out, - IC Happiness 4/5(MoonClaw) -Lvl. 06 -Fling, Covet, Scratch, Baby Doll Eyes, Lick, Fake Tears - IC Happiness 4/5(Pericles) -Lvl. 08 - Tackle, Leer, Arm Thrust, Taunt - IC Happiness 4/5(Tatanka) -Lvl. 09 - Scratch, Growl, Branch Poke, Taunt, - IC Happiness 5/5

Greenberry Woods was alive with Pokemon at this time. As Nate and his Pokemon companion wandered down the pathway, they could hear the buzz and chirps of the Pokemon inhabiting the trees and shrubbery around them.
A Shroomish bounced its way across the path, heedless of Nate and Ruby as it wandered on by. It stopped periodically to sniff at the ground, perhaps trying to find some good soil to rest for a while or grub to eat. As if to help, a nearby Skwovet looked down from its tree and dropped an Oran berry towards the Shroomish. The Shroomish didn't seem to notice until the Skwovet chucked a second Oran berry at the Shroomish's head. The Skwovet chuckled when the Shroomish glanced up, unamused as the Oran berry rolled away.
So, perhaps the Skwovet was just being mischievous.
Speaking of mischievous, a Cutiefly caught sight of Nate and seemed to show off its own rascally streak. It flew close to his face and danced around his head with a small giggle of its species' name. After a moment, it spotted Ruby and landed lightly upon her back before giving one of her ears a gentle tug. It flew off and up before Ruby could retaliate, proceeded to fly in a lazy loop-de-loop, and headed off further down the path, perhaps curious if Nate and Ruby would follow it. @natefyre

Mod Kurt Status: Determined There was alot of life in the woods as it always has been each time Nate visited. And every visit was still a fresh surprise full of magic and mystery. Each time he came was more special and interesting than the last. As him and Ruby trailed on, they noticed a Shroomish and Skwovet gawk at each other while an Oran Berry became a game between them. This was perhaps a way Pokemon could entertain each other and not grow idly bored in the area, and in some cases, help instigate a battle to grow stronger amongst themselves. Nate couldn't blame them for the jesting. With so much freedom and not alot to do, they had to keep themselves busy somehow or rot away in depression. He was glad to see such livelihood in these parts. Ruby yipped as she watched the two of them bicker and then quickly go their separate ways. It seemed to enjoy the back and forth and also being out in the open air again; its tail still wagging. As Ruby watched the other Wild Pokemon interact, a third Pokemon came into play and landed on Ruby's back. It was a Cutiefly. Nate watched as it tugged the pup's ears and wondered if it was the same one that flew their way before during their last visit. "This thing again. Hmm. Let's see." He took out his Pokedex and scanned it since he didn't manage to do this last time this type of Pokemon said hello. POKEDEX ENTRY REGISTERED. Cutiefly, the Bee Fly Pokemon. Nectar and pollen are its favorite fare. In fields of flowers, it gets into skirmishes with Butterfree over food. As he scanned the fly, it flew away from Ruby after messing with it and started to get away. Ruby became increasingly irate from the teasing and growled rushing after it. "Hey Ruby wait up!" Nate had no choice at this point, but to follow suit. Looks like they already found themselves a battle. They would stay on its trail as long as they could adding to their speed as they went and forcing Nate into a sprint. This is what Nate lived for. The rush of adventure and the promise of battle. He wouldn't have it any other way. ___________________________________________ (Shadow) -Lvl. 07 - Knock Off, Screech, Ominous Wind, Night Shade - IC Happiness 5/5(Ruby) -Lvl. 05 - Tackle, Howl, - IC Happiness 5/5(Phantom) -Lvl. 06 - Scratch, Growl, Sand Attack, Fake Out, - IC Happiness 5/5(MoonClaw) -Lvl. 06 -Fling, Covet, Scratch, Baby Doll Eyes, Lick, Fake Tears - IC Happiness 5/5(Pericles) -Lvl. 08 - Tackle, Leer, Arm Thrust, Taunt - IC Happiness 5/5(Tatanka) -Lvl. 09 - Scratch, Growl, Branch Poke, Taunt, - IC Happiness 1/5

The Cutiefly, upon seeing that Ruby and Nate followed after it in a sprint, seemed to giggle before stopping short in the air. It turned on a dime to face the Poochyena and used Fairy Wind.

Mod Kurt Status: Exhilarated It didn't take long for Nate and Ruby to catch up with the Cutiefly but they were met with instant resistance. Nate wasn't expecting the Wild Pokemon to stop in its tracks so suddenly and turn around on the attack. Neither was Ruby for that matter. Cutiefly went from playful to quite aggressive and let out a gust of colorful wind with its Fairy Wind attack blasting Ruby for a direct hit and sending her flying backwards and onto its back. This battle seemed different however, than other battles Nate had with Ruby. After just one hit, she was having an incredibly difficult time standing back up. Her body already pretty battered. "Ruby? Already down and out? How? Is it that str-" Just then Nate realized something in his mind from remembering what he had learned from his dad who used to train Pokemon. Type advantages. He was only a kid when he learned and he almost completely forgot about them. As a beginner Trainer it was crucial to keep these things in mind and learn them early on. But he was still just that - a beginning Pokemon Trainer starting late in their age and therefore was incredibly green at the get go during his journey. Luckily he remembered now before things got worse. Fairy types were strong against Dark types. And he now knew that little bee was a Fairy type, or at least partly based on that attack. Nate grows concerned and works up an anxious sweat as he watches Ruby struggling to keep steady and level headed. She also looked worried about the situation knowing she wouldn't last long. Cutiefly | female | shield dust Level: 7 Hold Item: none Absorb | Stun Spore | Fairy Wind | ---- | ---- | ---- RubyHP: 55 | female | run away Level: 5 Hold Item: none Tackle | Howl | ---- | ---- | ---- | ---- >> Cutiefly used Fairy Wind. Nate decided to make a judgment call and send out a different member of his team based on the type disadvantage. Thinking on his feet and going through his companions in his head he thought Shadow would be best. Shadow was always a good go to in tight spots or circumstances. And he certainly wouldn't be weak against a Fairy type. He would hang in there. Nate takes out Ruby's Poke Ball to make the switch out. " Ruby, you showed great confidence. But let's not risk it. Return!" Ruby makes a sigh of relief as she is returned to Nate happy in the end to not have to deal with a lashing from the bee. Nate then takes out Shadow's Poke Ball and grins eying the Wild Pokemon with intensity. "You're a tough little gal aren't you? Just how I like it. GO! SHADOW! USE OMINOUS WIND OUT THE GATE!" Nate sends out Shadow to try and even the odds and upon its release into battle it unleashes a mighty gust of its own wind, and sending a wave of spooky power Cutiefly's way with Ominous Wind. The little bee is blown into a tree nearby almost crushing its tiny wings. "Great work Shadow!" Shadow gives a triumphant cheer and floats around Nate happy to battle for his best friend again. The Cutiefly manages to slowly float back up into the air after the nasty crash and makes a stern face; no longer really in a jokester mood. Once it gets back to a battle ready stance, it lets loose an array of bright yellow pollen toward's Shadow's direction using its Stun Spore technique to paralyze its foe. Shadow was still very energetic and spry after getting an edge on the bee upon it coming out to battle, and was not about to let itself go numb from a counter attack. It spins around quickly as the pollen heads its way creating a tiny vortex of wind tossing the funnel of air at the Stun Spore attack slowing it down enough where Shadow only had a few specks coming his way and then dashing in midair to the right of it letting the move dissipate into vapor and nothingness upon the dodge. "Fantastic work and good thinking Shadow! I think in that case the bee wasn't quick enough to give a successful Stun Spore and was still shaky from the previous blow you dealt it!" But Cutiefly still had more energy in it and formed a green orb in its little tendrils then spat it at Shadow for an Absorb attack. This one didn't miss. The move had some good speed to it and the orb latched onto Shadow draining some of his life and then leaving him and returning to Cutiefly replenishing a bit of its strength. Nate let out a slight gasp. "Darn. That's ok Shadow, it won't sap you too much. We're just getting started right!?! Now, give it another Ominous Wind attack!" Shadow shakes off the sting from the Absorb, and nods swirling its body around creating another purple tornado of energy and then sending the Ominous Wind assault again to Cutiefly's direction. With its tiny body still trying to recover from the last attack, it eats another dangerous gust and slams into the ground below. The Cutiefly still managed to recover from the wind attack while Shadow keeps up the offensive and still flaps its little wings to return to the air after the pummeling. The bee was certainly resilient. With a snicker, the Cutiefly tries another desperate attempt to Paralyze Shadow with a Stun Spore. It shakes its petite figure unleashing a storm of spores at the ghost. This time it had more speed to it and seemed to be more plentiful with Shadow not expecting such precision and swiftness and getting the brunt of the spores latching onto him. His whole ghostly physique begins to shudder and currents of yellow energy circulate all over Shadow's body. It has become paralyzed. Nate lets out a shout of concern. "SHADOW! NO!" Nate panics as his prized Pokemon and best friend gets overtaken by numbness. It then begins to sweat from its forehead and its eyes start to droop a bit. Nate takes his backpack off and quickly rummages through it thinking he had something for such a condition. But he didn't. Just some Oran Berries and some berries for poison. He sighs and looks at Shadow. "Buddy, do you think you can still fight with that kind of restriction on you?" Shadow, though afflicted, gives a strained yell wishing to continue. "Alright then. Let's keep it going!" But before Nate could make a command, Cutiefly was on the offensive again and flaps its miniature wings to give Shadow a bit of wind of its own with a Fairy Wind attack. Shadow is stricken with the gale but not too badly and simply staggers a bit; still shuddering from the paralysis. It was tough; especially against a little creature like the one it was facing; it's been through worse during its long nights living in the harsh environment of Mt. Pyre for a big chunk of its life. This region was definitely different from Hoenn, but not anything it couldn't handle. It wanted so badly to keep fighting for Nate, whenever it could, however it could. It followed him all the way here from the Hoenn area because it cared for him ever since Nate was a boy. They were both young when they met, growing up in the mountains and exploring or playing tricks on other passing people and Pokemon. Their bond was strong overtime, which is why Shadow followed Nate so far. It didn't want to say goodbye to someone it connected so deeply with. "Shadow, you think you can try a Screech attack on it? Then go for an Ominous Wind with all you got?" Shadow fights through the stinging sensation of the paralysis and nods with a grunt. He was going to stay in this because he believed in the bond him and Nate had, and he believed he could win. It opens its mouth slowly, ignoring the surge of numbness running through it, and screams as loud as it could using its pain to let out wails of discomfort at the Cutiefly for a Screech attack. The fly tumbles through the air this way and that vibrating violently from the sound waves causing its defense to suffer. Afterwards, Shadow tries to send another vortex of wind at the Cutiefly, but was having trouble moving its body fast enough to create the gust due to the paralysis and stops in place twitching from the pain. Shadow is paralyzed. >> Cutiefly uses Fairy Wind on Shadow. >> Shadow uses Screech on Cutiefly. >> Shadow tries to use Ominous Wind but paralysis nullifies him. The sudden twitching and paralysis of Shadow gave Cutiefly another opening to attack. Having enough of the ghost's constant gusts of wind, Cutiefly was not yet satisfied with its own gales and uses another Fairy Wind on Shadow. Because of its current state of shock, Shadow endures the hit and is sent staggering back again. "Its defenses are way down Shadow, I say one more hit will be enough to knock it out. Use everything you have to finish it. You've already gotten loads stronger since we first started our journey. Don't give up now! Let's grab this victory and get closer to our first gym match together buddy!" Nate's words sent a new surge of energy through Shadow, inspiring it. "OMINOUS WIND! GO!" Shadow lets out a wail of newfound vigor and manages to spin around in the air at full speed once again creating a whirling vortex of purple gust, the biggest it's ever managed, and unleashes it at the Cutiefly. Looking helpless, a look of sudden horror fills its eyes as they widen into the likeness of two wet glistening windows about to have the curtains shut on them, and in an instant the vicious gale consumes the Cutie fly, sending it twirling about in a tempest of rage, and then dissipating leaving nothing behind except its now lifeless body in the dirt. Once the foe was confirmed as truly down for the count with its eyes shut and lights out, Nate walks over to Shadow and kneels beside him. Petting his head with tender care and a deep pride for its efforts. "Shadow, you fought with such passion and so valiantly. You really stuck it out through that ailment of yours. Come back and have a nice rest, ok?" Nate returns his Pokemon as Shadow looks at him longingly with a faint smile proud of his work, and thankful for Nate's guidance. After returning Shadow, Nate looks at Cutiefly feeling bad for knocking it out, but that was always the hard part of being a Trainer; the aftermath. He whispers to the little squashed bug. "I'm sorry Cutiefly, I know you were just being playful with Ruby and us, but, to say it bluntly; that doesn't always fly when you're trying to make a team stronger. Rest easy young bug." He says farewell to the downed Cutiefly and walks on ahead to continue his trek deeper into the woods for more training. Two of his Pokemon were already pretty badly hurt, so training them were out of the question going forward, at least for now until he decides to find time to heal them, but he would let them rest in their Poke Balls to recover as he continues training with the rest of his comrades in the meantime. Nate still has a dedicated jaunt in his step as he remains braving more of the woods and the Pokemon around him until he was satisfied with the training he could do today. He stays hopeful on his track to getting stronger with his team, and eagerly looks for his next challenge here. ___________________________________________ (Shadow) -Lvl. 07 - Knock Off, Screech, Ominous Wind, Night Shade - IC Happiness 1/5(Ruby) -Lvl. 05 - Tackle, Howl, - IC Happiness 1/5(Phantom) -Lvl. 06 - Scratch, Growl, Sand Attack, Fake Out, - IC Happiness 1/5(MoonClaw) -Lvl. 06 -Fling, Covet, Scratch, Baby Doll Eyes, Lick, Fake Tears - IC Happiness 1/5(Pericles) -Lvl. 08 - Tackle, Leer, Arm Thrust, Taunt - IC Happiness 1/5(Tatanka) -Lvl. 09 - Scratch, Growl, Branch Poke, Taunt, - IC Happiness 2/5

The path further on in the woods revealed more Pokemon, both curious about Nate and willing to just go about their business. A Tangela, for instance, stared after Nate but didn't seem inclined to do anything further to engage with him, content to use its long limbs to climb up a nearby tree.
Perhaps a bit startling to Nate, at one point in the path was an Espurr. The feline-like Pokemon stared blankly up at him, its ears closed tightly to its head, as it stared at the human. The Espurr didn't make a move towards Nate -- it may have just been waiting for Nate to pass on by -- but the scrutinizing could be unsettling to those who don't know much about these Pokemon.
If Nate is able to ignore the Espurr, he may turn and notice a Nickit slinking lowly to the ground a little behind him. Unsurprising to those who know of wild Nickit, the fox-like Pokemon was probably planning on how best to swipe some food from the human and his party... @natefyre, Ruby gained 4 exp. points! Ruby grew to level 6! Shadow gained 4 exp. points! Shadow grew to level 8!

Mod Kurt Status: Driven Upon Cutiefly's demise and an ongoing focused mindset, Nate takes his team further into the woods to dish out some more training and take in some new sights; including the sights and sounds of lingering and mystifying Pokemon. As Nate goes deeper onward, he spots a Tangela swinging its vines to go from tree to tree remembering the time he got Nyx and how excited he was to add her to his team. But his fixation on the effortless and mesmerizing way the Tangela was swaying its body to maneuver from place to place was quickly interrupted by a cat like Pokemon standing in the middle of the path Nate was walking along. He stopped in surprise at the sight of it, a Pokemon he was perplexed to see, one that had such a unique presence and look to it. It looked like no other Pokemon he has yet to see this close up. It had a special profoundness to it. It stood still and did not move, or really even blink. It watched Nate very carefully, and he, it. He slowly took out his Pokedex to get a read on it. POKEDEX ENTRY REGISTERED. Espurr, The Restraint Pokemon. It has enough psychic energy to blast everything within 300 feet of itself, but it has no control over its power. Nate raised his brows in astonishment. "Psychic type huh. And a powerful one at that. I wonder if I could try and-" Just then Nate heard some shuffling of feet behind him, he darted around and saw a Nickit crouched low in a ready to strike position. Nate winced his eyes taking this as a threat. "Oh no you don't. GO, MOONCLAW!" Nate's Teddiursa comes out and gives a big yawn stretching its tiny paws and batting its eyes and taking a moment to adjust then noticing the Nickit. A bead of sweat drips down its head as it sees the Nickit, then looks back at its Trainer, and then returning its gaze to the Nickit. Just then it knew what it was sent out for and gives a gulp in its throat having not yet experienced a Pokemon battle. Slightly uncertain of what it can do. "Don't fret MoonClaw! Believe in yourself. And you can do wonders." At this point Nate had to put all his focus on MoonClaw to aid his Pokemon in this bout and support it during its first ever Pokemon Battle. Nate was unsure if the Espurr was still behind him or took off at this point, but his focus had to remain on MoonClaw and the Nickit as to not put himself or his Pokemon in danger with a slip-up or carelessness. Hearing Nate's words the Teddiursa gets serious. It lowers its head with a scour at the Nickit and extracts its claws and gives a smirk. Its mood seemed to change with Nate's support and it started to have excitement about its battle. This Pokemon's loyal personality really seemed to show. "This little fox was going to try and sneak up on us. Let's turn the tides. Get the upper hand! MoonClaw, Scratch!" MoonClaw gets into a harrowing stance, showing off its claws and rushing at the Nickit with a speedy Scratch attack. ___________________________________________ (Shadow) -Lvl. 08 - Knock Off, Screech, Ominous Wind, Night Shade - IC Happiness 2/5(Ruby) -Lvl. 06 - Tackle, Howl, - IC Happiness 2/5(Phantom) -Lvl. 06 - Scratch, Growl, Sand Attack, Fake Out, - IC Happiness 2/5(MoonClaw) -Lvl. 06 -Fling, Covet, Scratch, Baby Doll Eyes, Lick, Fake Tears - IC Happiness 2/5(Pericles) -Lvl. 08 - Tackle, Leer, Arm Thrust, Taunt - IC Happiness 2/5(Tatanka) -Lvl. 09 - Scratch, Growl, Branch Poke, Taunt, - IC Happiness 3/5

The Nickit seemed to smirk itself, getting into a defensive position. With Nate's announcement and loud talk to his own Pokemon -- a little Teddiursa -- the Nickit was more than ready for MoonClaw to attack.
As such, MoonClaw's Scratch missed with Nickit nimbly dodging and darting immediately at the Teddiursa with its own Quick Attack.

Mod Kurt Status: Defensive MoonClaw wasn't quick enough, which made sense since it was still a young Pokemon with no battle experience, and the Nickit got the upper hand! The fox quickly pounced at the Teddiursa with a Quick Attack which it didn't see coming, and was struck back a few feet nearly toppling over from Nickit's impact. MoonClaw for the most part seemed ok though. It took a bit to get back up now knowing what it feels like to experience pain, especially pain in a battle. Some tears started to fall down from its eyes and Nate decided to take this perfect opportunity. "MoonClaw, it'll be ok, you're not down yet! Use those tears to your advantage! Fake Tears, and then Scratch again!" Upon MoonClaw crying, it hears Nate's commands and over exaggerates its fit. The tears start streaming like waterfalls and drip down to the Nickit's direction. The Nickit seemed startled by the waterworks and almost felt bad for hurting the poor bear, and then when its guard was down, MoonClaw rushes at it again with a tear driven Scratch attack! This time it hits! With the fox's defenses freshly and harshly lowered, MoonClaw's claws dug in good, leaving a nasty batch of crimson marks on Nickit's left cheek and causing it to stagger backwards. After the maneuver, Nickit growls disliking being played like that, it then uses Tail Whip to get a bit of payback on the defense side of things, causing MoonClaw to shake nervously a bit dropping its defense slightly, then goes in for a Beat Up attack running at the MoonClaw and pounding at it with an array of tail slaps and quick paw strikes. MoonClaw puts its paws up trying to block most of the onslaught and gets its elbows scuffed up in the struggle. It remains standing but a bit shaken up. The Nickit jumps back still growling thinking it has MoonClaw at a disadvantage. However, the bear isn't giving up that easy. It growls right back at this point at the Nickit resilient as ever. It then eyes Nate awaiting the next command. Nate gives it some more guidance. "Nickit relies on its speed. But you have an upper hand with the ability to lower its power and affect its attack and guard. You got its guard down now affect its attack. Baby Doll Eyes, then Scratch!" MoonClaw hears the commands and loosens up its posture a little bit and begins to make a cute pose blinking adorably at Nickit with its bulbous eyes. Nickit seems somewhat unsure what is going on, but suddenly feels entranced and relaxes its muscles and becomes briefly dizzy. Its attack gets hindered by this and then MoonClaw goes in for another cheap shot rushing the fox again with its claws Scratching at its other cheek this time and causing Nickit to fall on its back in pain. Nickit, still in the fight, gets up with the assist from its large tail, then goes for another Tail Whip. Nate, seeing the injured Nickit starts to lift its tail warns MoonClaw. "MOONCLAW LOOK AWAY!" MoonClaw hearing the command, abruptly averts its gaze to the tail whipping gesture keeping its fear in check and preventing itself from feeling weakened by the motion. Noticing its attempt failed, it doesn't give MoonClaw or Nate another second to deliberate a next move, and runs at the bear with a Quick Attack slamming it into the bushes. The Teddiursa, now filthy with twigs and leaves, crawls out of the bushes after a few seconds of collecting itself, and stands back up a bit annoyed and now seemingly frustrated and hungry after fighting so hard. Or maybe it was cranky. Or maybe all of the above. "MoonClaw, you're doing great. Finish this. Fake Tears. AND THEN SCRATCH!" MoonClaw obliges, and already feeling a certain way with its agitation, it starts crying again, flooding the space around Nickit with its tears causing the fox to shake and sway in worry. Once the fox was distracted by the puddles around it, MoonClaw strikes again pacing itself and leaping left and right until getting some air in front of the fox and then leaping down on it with a Scratch across the top of its cranium driving the Nickit into the dirt face first. Afterwards, Nickit's eyes shut and it flops onto its side passed out. "YES! YOU DID IT! HAHAAA!" Nate runs to MoonClaw and picks it up hugging it tightly. MoonClaw stops its crying and nuzzles into Nate starting to close its eyes a bit sleepily. "Nice work. Come on back and rest." Nate takes out MoonClaw's Poke' Ball and returns it. NickitHP: 0 | female | run away Level: 4 Hold Item: none Quick Attack | Tail Whip | Beat Up | ---- | ---- | ---- MoonClawHP: 50 | male | honey gather Level: 6 Hold Item: none Fling | Covet | Scratch |Baby Doll Eyes | Lick| Fake Tears >> MoonClaw used Baby Doll Eyes lowering Nickit's attack >> MoonClaw used Scratch Attack >> Nickit used Tail Whip and missed. >> Nickit used Quick Attack. >> MoonClaw used Fake Tears harshly lowering Nickit's defense. >> MoonClaw used Scratch. >> Nickit faints. "Another one done. I am nearly getting burnt out with my team here. I suppose I have a few Oran Berries and some potions I can divvy up between them, but I want to exhaust all my healthy companions first." Nate still had a few healthy and able Pokemon he could use for training, and perhaps use them to team up with some of the previously weaker team members so they can still get more experience without the need to fight so much. He also remembered the Pokemon he saw earlier. "Espurr...I wonder where it went off too." The thought quickly escapes him however, and he continues on the trail. "Oh well. Let's see what other Pokemon I can tussle with. Whom are willing, ofcourse." With training still on his mind, he keeps going into the woods to grow his Pokemon and their strengths even more. ___________________________________________ (Shadow) -Lvl. 08 - Knock Off, Screech, Ominous Wind, Night Shade - IC Happiness 3/5(Ruby) -Lvl. 06 - Tackle, Howl, - IC Happiness 3/5(Phantom) -Lvl. 06 - Scratch, Growl, Sand Attack, Fake Out, - IC Happiness 3/5(MoonClaw) -Lvl. 06 -Fling, Covet, Scratch, Baby Doll Eyes, Lick, Fake Tears - IC Happiness 3/5(Pericles) -Lvl. 08 - Tackle, Leer, Arm Thrust, Taunt - IC Happiness 3/5(Tatanka) -Lvl. 09 - Scratch, Growl, Branch Poke, Taunt, - IC Happiness 4/5

MoonClaw had found a Honey in the bushes! This delicious sweet treat may be used to attract wild Pokemon or simply be sold for a decent price at a pokemart.
As Nate continued onward, there were a couple of pathways that branched off of the main, worn-down path of the woodlands. To Nate's left, there was a darker path hidden between a couple of trees. A Spinarak was busy creating a web in the top boughs of the trees. The web was high enough if Nate wished to duck beneath it to explore further down that pathway, should he choose to and wanted to leave the Spinarak alone.
To Nate's right, there was a pair of Kantonian Rattata gnawing on a tree stump. The stump itself was rather splintered, perhaps having been destroyed by lightning from a storm or an Electric-type that was too enthusiastic during a battle. The path was littered with leaves and broken twigs, leading towards a clearing that may have been used as a battle arena from time to time.
A little further ahead was a Grookey having a grand old time using its stick to drum out a beat amid some of the tree branches. It seemed rather engrossed in its music. @natefyre, with the Starfall Event, MoonClaw gains 6 exp. points! MoonClaw grows to level 7! Also at the odds of you finding a second Grookey.

Mod Kurt another Grookey eh? I should catch another and start making a monkey band. I need a Jigglypuff to have a singer and a Toxtricity for guitar haha Status: Energetic Another batch of interesting Pokemon appeared ahead. It was so intriguing to Nate seeing all the 'busy' things Pokemon were doing around him. A Spinarak making webs, some Rattata gnawing away at a busted tree trunk letting nature take its course and decomposing it down to nothing to send nutrients back to the Earth to perhaps grow a new tree, and as luck would have it, a Grookey drumming along to a beat in the nearby treetops. Nate only spotted it because its green fur stood out along the branches. And its constant drumming motion made it easy to see from afar with all that movement. Grookeys were such high energy upbeat Pokemon, would be great for any Trainer to start a Pokemon band! Nate's Grookey had a different more important purpose, however. And with a little training, and Alotta triumph, that Grookey would turn into a powerful ally eventually taking form into a Rillaboom to best serve Nate towards the final Gym battle. Nate was letting his thoughts get to him and tried to shake off the wanderlust. He had to pick a direction to go as he progressed once more through the woods, and noticed a path under the web the Spinarak was crafting nearby, and decided to head that way. Being as cautious as ever, Nate ducks quite carefully under the web the Pokemon was making letting it continue to forge its sticky home without bothering it, and heads forward down the path passed the Spinarak's territory to see what may lurk deeper in. He would likely use Phantom in the next battle, as it needed still quite a bit of training along with Ruby, but Ruby was quite weak from the rumble with the Cutiefly. He could use Ruby as the one to start the battle if needed so she as well gets experience, but Phantom would be the one to finish it. Nate also wanted to have Tatanka jump in at some point since he has yet to use the little monkey for a solid fight on his team since catching it, but it was already plenty strong out of the gate with Nate feeling lucky to capture such a powerful Pokemon in the wild, and needed little training at the present moment. But before the first gym gets visited, Nate would for sure grow the monkey's strength a bit more. Pericles was healthy and could fight too as needed, but he's been getting alot of training in lately, perhaps though, there can never be too much. As Nate planned the next encounter he'd later witness in these woods, he remembers to enjoy himself in the current moment scanning the scenery and feeling the excitement of the unknown along the woody escape letting the natural flow of the universe and Mother Nature take him where it may until fate calls upon him once again. ___________________________________________ (Shadow) -Lvl. 08 - Knock Off, Screech, Ominous Wind, Night Shade - IC Happiness 4/5(Ruby) -Lvl. 06 - Tackle, Howl, - IC Happiness 4/5(Phantom) -Lvl. 06 - Scratch, Growl, Sand Attack, Fake Out, - IC Happiness 4/5(MoonClaw) -Lvl. 07 -Fling, Covet, Scratch, Baby Doll Eyes, Lick, Fake Tears - IC Happiness 4/5(Pericles) -Lvl. 08 - Tackle, Leer, Arm Thrust, Taunt - IC Happiness 4/5(Tatanka) -Lvl. 09 - Scratch, Growl, Branch Poke, Taunt, - IC Happiness 5/5

Upon passing under the Spinarak's web, Nate ventured down a path of the woodlands dimmed by the thick treetops. There were a couple of other Pokemon amid the path and the tree branches -- such as a little Joltik chattering up on a tree limb as it blinked its many eyes down at Nate, or a Starly snoozing by a half-finished nest -- should Nate wish to engage them.
Up further ahead, however, were spouts of brighter light. Flames, by the looks of them. The cries of a Vulpix were heard in conjunction with a young man's voice commanding it to use Ember against an opponent. Some sort of battle was happening further down the path, should Nate wish to go and investigate. @natefyre, seeing the Pokemon band at the end of Sword/Shield was absolutely delightful to me !

Mod Kurt Status: Alert A few more Pokemon made themselves known around Nate as he went, not acting too alarming or showing any aggression to Nate, but simply living their lives doing the natural things nature has presented them to do. A Joltik was in a tree above Nate blinking away at his presence and curiously watching him. Nate looked up at it and waved hello then kept walking on. A Starly was asleep not far in a nearby tree directly next to the shrubbery the Joltik inhabited, and seemed very much at peace where it was. Nate acknowledged its snooze and paid no mind to its nap leaving it unbothered. His leisurely stroll didn't last too much longer since his last encounter however, when he heard some unsettling noises and noticed a bright blaze of light ahead of a few bushes in front of him and decided to investigate. Upon picking up some speed and drawing closer to the noise, Nate starts hearing a human voice issuing what sounded like...commands? He jerked his head back enthused with his eyes starting to shimmer at the sound and sight just ahead of him and began a slow jog to the happening. He crouched down behind a decently sized shrub and peeked from behind it brushing away a few leaves and watching what was causing the commotion with full attention. A Pokemon battle? Training maybe? Catching some native inhabitants? Looks quite thrilling. Nate thought to himself as he observed what was before him which seemed to be an intense Pokemon Battle of a sort, and watched closely to see what the result would bring and if more than one Trainer was involved until he felt like he needed to make himself known. ___________________________________________ (Shadow) -Lvl. 08 - Knock Off, Screech, Ominous Wind, Night Shade - IC Happiness 5/5(Ruby) -Lvl. 06 - Tackle, Howl, - IC Happiness 5/5(Phantom) -Lvl. 06 - Scratch, Growl, Sand Attack, Fake Out, - IC Happiness 5/5(MoonClaw) -Lvl. 07 -Fling, Covet, Scratch, Baby Doll Eyes, Lick, Fake Tears - IC Happiness 5/5(Pericles) -Lvl. 08 - Tackle, Leer, Arm Thrust, Taunt - IC Happiness 5/5(Tatanka) -Lvl. 09 - Scratch, Growl, Branch Poke, Taunt, - IC Happiness 1/5

From Nate's vantage point, he was able to see a Vulpix enthusiastically using an Ember attack against a Sewaddle. The Vulpix's trainer was a young man, thin and fair-skinned, most likely just getting out of his teenage years. He still seemed to have plenty of energy and, as soon as the latest Ember hit the Sewaddle, chucked a Pokeball at the wild Pokemon.
The Pokeball shook only once before going still.
"Fantastic, Ginger!" the trainer said, scooping up his Vulpix in a hug, despite the indignant squeak that the Vulpix gave. As soon as her trainer put her back down to go and fetch the Pokeball, the Vulpix gave her coat a good shake to get her fur back into place.
"Alright, we got another teammate," the trainer said. "We're going to have to figure out what stage name to give her--Uh, what's up?"
Ginger the Vulpix's nose was up in the air, sniffing before her eyes went towards the shrub where Nate had placed himself. Her trainer glanced over as well and tentatively asked, "Hello? Anyone else there?" @natefyre

Mod Kurt Status: Observant The battle was quite magnificent and the Vulpix's prey of choice in the bout was a little Sewaddle; it was a natural choice for training since the Vulpix had an advantage as a fire type against a bug type. The battle, at least from what Nate saw, also seemed to go by rather quick. The Vulpix appeared to still have plenty of spunk and energy after it ended. Not just the Pokemon, but the Trainer of it too seemed rather energetic which showed the two of them had a synchronized flow of energy levels. Or perhaps they were just getting started with their training in the woods. It could be a number of things, but it looked like Nate was going to get more up close and personal with them since they were fast approaching his position in the bushes. The Vulpix was the first to find Nate hiding in the shrubs and then its Trainer seemed to follow suit. Without making too much of a scene, Nate slowly stands from the bushes and waves hello with a nervous posture. "Ehm...hey there! I was just watching your battle. Didn't want to interrupt and scare off that Wild Pokemon you just caught. I am training here in the woods you see, and stumbled upon this part of the brush. Wanted to let you have your battle before passing through." Nate couldn't tell immediately if this young man was the aggressive or hostile Trainer type or not, but would give decent conversation a shot letting respect lead the chatter. If it turned into hostility, then Nate had a few healthy Pokemon left ready to go just in case. "I'm Nate, by the way. I'm a Gym Challenger from the Hoenn Region. What's your name?" Watching his tone and his demeanor, Nate was hoping this stranger would give him the same sort of respect and see where the conversation would take them. Otherwise, it would be a good training opportunity to battle another Trainer regardless if they wanted to start a fight. That Vulpix looks strong. Phantom, Tatanka, and Pericles are the only healthy Pokemon I really have right now. And Tatanka would be useless due to the type disadvantage but Phantom might be a promising start for a fight if needed. Nate thought to himself naturally thinking too far ahead as he usually does, but the racing thoughts were keeping him in check at the moment as he cautiously awaits the Trainer's response. ___________________________________________ (Shadow) -Lvl. 08 - Knock Off, Screech, Ominous Wind, Night Shade - IC Happiness 1/5(Ruby) -Lvl. 06 - Tackle, Howl, - IC Happiness 1/5(Phantom) -Lvl. 06 - Scratch, Growl, Sand Attack, Fake Out, - IC Happiness 1/5(MoonClaw) -Lvl. 07 -Fling, Covet, Scratch, Baby Doll Eyes, Lick, Fake Tears - IC Happiness 1/5(Pericles) -Lvl. 08 - Tackle, Leer, Arm Thrust, Taunt - IC Happiness 1/5(Tatanka) -Lvl. 09 - Scratch, Growl, Branch Poke, Taunt, - IC Happiness 2/5
