female | 27 | asexual | rancher | luna noa, lunar: silver star story
Description:
Nora is average in height and build, with pale skin and blue eyes. Her long, slightly curly hair matches her eyes, and is usually worn down or in a low ponytail. She has a variety of different outfits, but they all tend to be comfortable and loose-fitting. She tends to wear boots and either shorts or pants (weather depending) when working, but prefers skirts and dresses for relaxing. When traveling, she tends to carry her items in a slightly worn black backpack.
Personality:
Nora considers herself pretty average - someone that could easily blend in with a crowd, and no one that anyone would remember simply from glancing at her. And to Nora, that’s perfectly fine! All that matters to her is that she has what she needs to fulfill her goals. Whether she actually does or not remains to be seen, but here at the beginning of her journey she’s reasonably confident in her skills.
Nora is okay with people, really. She knows how to be friendly and polite, and if it’s in her power to help someone she usually makes the attempt. She can handle crowds okay, and she does honestly wish for a close friend or five. Having said that, she’s found that she has an easier time interacting with Pokemon than with humans. She’s not sure why this is, nor has she really attempted to “fix” it. Why bother? There’s no shame in having Pokemon as some of her closest friends, right?
Nora’s uncomfortable with conflict and competition. She knows it’s an inevitable part of life, especially for those working closely with Pokemon, but it bothers her. Either she loses, or she makes someone else lose. Where’s the fun with that? She gets more enjoyment out of life when she’s allowed to simply work the way she wants, and at her own pace. That’s a big part of why she’s chosen the path of a rancher instead of a gym challenger or coordinater. She may have to battle wild Pokemon that she wants to tame for her ranch, but most of her job would require befriending her partners and encouraging relationships between her Pokemon, right? That, at least, she can handle. Besides, she gets her own land that she can build on how she sees fit. Who wouldn’t that appeal to?
Nora likes to relax and have fun…maybe too much. She’ll set objectives for herself on a given day, and may even keep a running list of what she needs done, but she’ll always take time out of her schedule to play a game, take a nature walk, enjoy a cup of tea, or whatever else suits her fancy. Life is worthless if it can’t be savored, and no one can stay on-duty all the time, can they? Maybe she spends a bit too much time being unproductive, but she doesn’t see the problem with it. Things will get done when she gets to them, and she will…eventually.
History: Nora grew up in Pinewood City, surrounded by quite a lot of family - her own parents and siblings, her maternal grandmother, her mother’s brothers, and their children. Nora was the second child out of four born to her mother, with an older brother, a much younger brother, and an even younger sister (Cliff, Jacob, and Tara respectively). She and Cliff started out close, since they’d been raised together, and most of her earliest memories are of playing with him and three of her cousins - a twin brother and sister from one uncle (Derrick and Riley) and a girl from another (Shawn). All these children were within two years of each other, and they tended to form their own little group when the family gathered.
Even as a young child, Nora knew that competitive battling just wasn’t for her. Unfortunately, Cliff and their cousins weren’t of the same mind. All four of them would talk at length about the types of Pokemon they wanted to train, argued over who would make the best trainer, and fantasized about becoming champion someday. Slowly, Nora realized she no longer fit in with the others, and she eventually withdrew, taking to exploring the area surrounding her hometown on her own or playing with her younger siblings. It was a bit lonely, especially when they all came of age and her closest family set off to start their Pokemon journey, but she eventually adjusted and divided her time among her remaining family or pursuing her interests on her own. When she was old enough, she started taking on odd jobs around town for a change of pace or just to earn some extra spending money. This was meant to be a temporary measure until she figured out what she wanted to do with her life, but it ended up lasting well into her twenties.
Then Shawn returned home, partly to visit her family after so much time away and partly to recover from a devastating string of losses that had completely shaken her confidence as a trainer. Nora and Shawn reconnected, and once Shawn recovered she encouraged Nora to look into becoming a rancher. It did sound ideal, and her cousin stating that she was thinking about ranching as a possibility for herself as well motivated Nora. Her mind fully made up, she packed what she thought she’d need and moved out, eager to start her new life.
Goals & Mod Permissions:
~Goal 1: Her main goal is to have a nice variety of species on her ranch so she can raise and breed a good selection of unique Pokemon to potential customers.
~Goal 2: She also has a wishlist of Pokemon that don’t fit in her specialized types, but that she’d like to keep around for companionship or to help out on the ranch so she doesn’t have to do everything herself.
~Goal 3: She’d like to make some close friends - even better if they all become a friend group together.
~Mod Permissions: Go for it.
Starting Position: Beginner
Other:
~Nora loves hot drinks of all kinds - Coffee, tea, hot chocolate…it’s all amazing. While not a hot drink, she also has a deep fondness for boba teas
~She also loves music, and is probably listening to some whenever she’s at her ranch. Her preferred genre depends on her mood. She’s a decent singer and would like to learn to play an instrument someday, though she hasn’t figured out what instrument suits her. Maybe once she’s established as a rancher, she’ll figure it out.
~She enjoys swimming, but isn’t great at it. She can keep her head above water with no problem, but she doesn’t move very fast.
My member name is REE, and I also play NO ONE.
