MOD KRIS Status: Refreshed With his Pokemon healed once again and ready for their journey, Nate exits the Pokemon Center with newfound energy and even changed out his team a bit. But as he leaves after his visit, he sees a distraught little girl. Perplexed, Nate entices her as he feels the frustration emanating from within her. "Is there something I can assist you with little one?" The girl responds immediately ordering Nate to help even though she knew not who he was at all. She seemed desperate and rattled. "Hey, you! Help me find the Skwovet that stole my new backpack! The bag is green with white polka dots, and I just got it for my birthday! If you help me, I'll give you something from my bag." Nate heard this request and didn't't blame her for being so upset. That did sound very distressing. Without second thought Nate agrees to help, determined to get her things back. He didn't even quite care about an item or reward, he just wanted to assist and this would also be another amazing training opportunity for his team. "Ofcourse I'll help! Is there any specific directions in the woods we need to go? Point and we'll follow! And whom better to lead the chase than Pericles who I caught in these very woods." Nate takes out Pericles's Poke' Ball and sends him out. "GO PERICLES!" The arrogant Pancham comes right out and flexes his small biceps for the girl. Nate giggles. " Yeah, he does that. But I assure you he can help!" Pericles gives Nate a thumbs up then gives the girl a wink. "That Skwovet will be sure to return your things!" Pericles then leaps up on Nate's shoulders and cups a hand to his forehead as if using him as a searching post and goes right to gazing for the culprit as they await the girl's direction. ___________________________________________ (Shadow) -Lvl. 07 - Knock Off, Screech, Ominous Wind, Night Shade - IC Happiness 1/5(Ruby) -Lvl. 05 - Tackle, Howl, - IC Happiness 1/5(Phantom) -Lvl. 05 - Scratch, Growl, Sand Attack, Fake Out, - IC Happiness 1/5(MoonClaw) -Lvl. 05 -Fling, Covet, Scratch, Baby Doll Eyes, Lick, Fake Tears- IC Happiness 1/5(Pericles) -Lvl. 05 - Tackle, Leer, Arm Thrust, - IC Happiness 1/5(Tatanka) -Lvl. 09 - Scratch, Growl, Branch Poke, Taunt,- IC Happiness 2/5[/div]

@natefyre The girl smiled and said thank you, but she faltered when Nate mentioned they would follow her. "I'm not allowed to go into the woods without my backpack," she said, indicating how young she was. "My Pokemon and first aid kit are in there. I'd get in huge trouble otherwise. I'll wait for you here."
She did, however, point to the west and said, "Last I saw, the stupid Skwovet went that way! It was dragging my backpack, so maybe there's a trail or something?"
At this point, it looks as if Nate and Pericles will be investigating on their own.

Mod Kris Status: Investigating Hearing the girl's concerns understandably she could not go into the woods on her own or with them. Her age looked very young but she was able to point Nate and Pancham in the right direction which is mainly what he wished. "We're on it!" Nate bids farewell to the girl for now and gets to the sleuthing. Once the direction was made Nate heads that way and starts scanning for a trail; Pancham assists as well by marching onward and keeping his head low eying the ground for a promising trail or clue, searching right along with Nate to the best of his abilities. "Let's try to keep in mind that this Pokemon type with her backpack tends to get very hungry alot and has a habit of storing food. So Pericles, we should probably be looking in trees once we find a trail or in tree hollows for Skwovet nests. And it might not be working alone." Pericles gave Nate a thumbs up as it continued searching agreeing with his point. As they went they inspected not only for footprints on the grounded level, but also scanned their eyes up to the tree branches and left and right in the bushes and trying to find any sign of a nest or a hint of a Skwovet even in the slightest. The woods could be a hectic place and one to easily get lost in if they weren't paying enough attention. But luckily Nate was with a companion that knew these woods very well. Pericles lived in them for a time after all, and it was going to be exciting to see how it could use this environment to its advantage, or perhaps even see some familiar faces it may have crossed paths with before; but hopefully not the Stunky that it got into a tussle with right before Nate captured the Pancham. The two Pokemon at the time clearly didn't get along. ___________________________________________ (Shadow) -Lvl. 07 - Knock Off, Screech, Ominous Wind, Night Shade - IC Happiness 2/5(Ruby) -Lvl. 05 - Tackle, Howl, - IC Happiness 2/5(Phantom) -Lvl. 05 - Scratch, Growl, Sand Attack, Fake Out, - IC Happiness 2/5(MoonClaw) -Lvl. 05 -Fling, Covet, Scratch, Baby Doll Eyes, Lick, Fake Tears- IC Happiness 2/5(Pericles) -Lvl. 05 - Tackle, Leer, Arm Thrust, - IC Happiness 2/5(Tatanka) -Lvl. 09 - Scratch, Growl, Branch Poke, Taunt,- IC Happiness 3/5

@natefyre Looking up proved to be one of the best courses of action. There was a particular tree at one point in the woods that had its bark scraped off and a few twigs dangling here and there, almost as if something was dragged up and over the sturdier limbs of the tree.
There was a young woman staring up at the shadows of the treetops as well, with a Totodile trying to find purchase enough to scrabble up the tree as well. It wasn't having very good luck, being a smaller Water-type without tree-climbing skills. In one of her hands, the woman had a green and white small piece of fabric that she was absent-mindedly twisting around one of her fingers.
When Nate and his Pancham appeared, the woman glanced over at them, as did the Totodile that decided to stand in between her and the strangers. The woman asked, "The kid demand you find her backpack, too?"

Mod Kris Status: Social As Nate and Pericles trudged onward into the woods they noticed another person. This for Nate was somewhat out of the ordinary as he typically has only ever been with himself any time he went into a route or 'wild area' as it were, away from town or a gathering place. He was pleasantly surprised upon finding another live person out a ways with him. And what was even more perplexing is, this person may be on the same task as Nate was. Nate tilted his head at the person when they asked their question, and then scratched it. "That's rather strange....you as well as myself, have been recruited by the girl to get her belongings back? Well, perhaps she thinks more hands make lighter work?" Nate looks down at Pericles as the panda also seems confused blinking away at the stranger in front of Nate and keeping a close eye on the Totodile with a wary squint. Nate was trying to think how best to deal with this predicament and looks up at the tree, then back at the person and shrugs. "I suppose we can split the reward if we work together on this. This tree here..." Nate points at a tree beside them with hints of stripped bark and broken twigs hanging from it. "I believe this is the one the Skwovet may have used to escape. Granted, it could be long gone now, but it might be the right start." Nate was never one to always be right, but he certainly had dumb luck as finding Rare Pokemon as well as Rare Items seemed to come easy for him as of late. He was hoping his luck had not yet run out. He gives the stranger a proper greeting before proposing some options for this situation. "How rude of me...I'm Nate, by the way. This little guy beside me here...this is Pericles." Pericles grins at the individual and their Totodile flexing his muscles like a baby on a runway. "I caught him in these very woods. And he's still kind of learning...." Pericles hears that and sticks his tongue out at Nate then crosses his arms a bit annoyed at his Trainer. "BUT! I would love to know your name? And after introductions are finished...I do have several Pokemon that could easily climb that tree and investigate if your Totodile is having trouble. Then we can deal with the next steps together, no? Either my Pancham here, or my Purrloin or Grookey would certainly have an easy time at scaling this tree, then they can report to us if they find anything. Hope that sounds good." The person Nate was talking to seemed decent enough. Maybe it was more of a shady Trainer that wanted to deal with this mission so to speak all to themselves, but so far, Nate didn't get any indication that this person was bad news. Maybe through a bit more chatting, he would get a better feel for them and their motives. "You'll also have to forgive me, but I've been traveling alone lately and haven't seen really any other Trainers in the wilds around here until now. It's good to see another face out in the open like this." He probably sounded like a delusional idiot saying these things, but he wasn't from this region at all, he was used to living alone on a mountain with little to no people whatsoever back in the Hoenn region. Mt. Pyre was all he knew for so long, and now he was in a brand new place with new faces - the least he can do is make an effort to socialize whenever he could as a means of adjusting. ___________________________________________ (Shadow) -Lvl. 07 - Knock Off, Screech, Ominous Wind, Night Shade - IC Happiness 3/5(Ruby) -Lvl. 05 - Tackle, Howl, - IC Happiness 3/5(Phantom) -Lvl. 05 - Scratch, Growl, Sand Attack, Fake Out, - IC Happiness 3/5(MoonClaw) -Lvl. 05 -Fling, Covet, Scratch, Baby Doll Eyes, Lick, Fake Tears- IC Happiness 3/5(Pericles) -Lvl. 05 - Tackle, Leer, Arm Thrust, - IC Happiness 3/5(Tatanka) -Lvl. 09 - Scratch, Growl, Branch Poke, Taunt,- IC Happiness 4/5

@natefyre The woman shrugged when Nate seemed perplexed that both of them had been recruited, as he said, by the kid. "Or she thought I was taking too long," the woman simply said. She glanced at the Pancham and back at her Totodile, finding both of them warily eyeing the other and figured there was no harm as long as the pair didn't start brawling without her and Nate's say so. Introducing herself in return, she said, "Elaine Harrison. Totodile is Scorpio."
"Oh, I don't care about a reward from a seven-year-old," the woman said with a shrug, her gaze returning to the tree. "I'm more concerned with the pokemon the girl said was in her backpack than anything else. It would be terrible for that pokeball to be laying around these woods lost and forgotten because a Skwovet decided a backpack had food or something good in it.
"You're half-right," Elaine said. "Skwovet is up in the tree but didn't escape. Think there's a nest in there. Haven't seen nor heard the Skwovet move after we spotted it dragging the backpack up the tree. If you've a Pokemon that can climb the tree, go for it. I think the only one of my Pokemon who can climb trees would move too slowly." She looked at Scorpio and added, "My other thought was to chuck Scorpio up, but I don't think either of us would like that."
Indeed, the Totodile looked affronted at the very idea.
Nate seemed to ramble for a moment about not seeing any other trainers about, and Elaine raised an eyebrow. "Suppose it depends on the paths you've taken," she said. "Around these parts, I haven't seen many others either, but I think many try to rush through the woods. Lots of young Pokemon and potential for poisoning your own."

Mod Kris Status: Informed Nate heard some much needed information from the one now known as Elaine and was very grateful for sharing what she knew. He was also glad that her heart was in the right place, as Nate's also was. And even more elated to know, that the Skwovet that ran off with the child's things, was still in this tree; at least as far as they knew. Nate was confident Elaine has not budged from that position since trailing the Skwovet, and neither has the Skwovet. Elaine was also right about the fear of the child's Pokemon laying around without their Trainer, probably unsure and scared they will ever be reunited. Just the thought made Nate uneasy. "We will get her those belongings and her Pokemon back. I don't go back on my word." Nate pauses a moment and looks intently up at the tree. He could try another method instead of just climbing as well; perhaps bashing the tree may cause something to fall down. Hopefully the Skwovet, then again, perhaps it may make it worse and other Pokemon that dwell within may come down and wreak havoc. "As for the Pokemon around here - me and my team went pretty deep in these forests. We will be ok." Nate then remembers the Deer Pokemon that lurked deep in the woods earlier and commented. "Did you happen to see a Deer like Pokemon around these parts? It looked like a Pokemon I haven't really seen before. Not even from where I hail from in Hoenn." Nate noticed himself losing track of his thoughts. He went back on course and stayed fast to the situation on hand. "Let's try my Pancham taking a look up top - then see if maybe a swift blow to the tree might have to be our best bet to get that Skwovet down or not." Nate looks towards Pericles and he obliges with a smile. The Pancham cracks his knuckles and then starts leaping up the tree with ease. He runs up the trunk of the tree at a decent pace then grabs hold of the lowest branch, then swings himself up to the thick of the rest of the tree limbs and starts making his way through the maze of other branches. He knew what a Skwovet looked like, as he found many around these parts. Hearing its name several times was enough for it to know what it was looking for. It peered around the treetop carefully and methodically, looking for the culprit. Nate shouts up to Pericles with a booming volume. "Look for a nest, Pericles! There is likely several Skwovet around with a backpack!" From there his Pericles would have to scout on its own until it alerted Nate of finding something, or it would find itself in trouble and unresponsive where the tree would need a good nudge from another one of Nate's Pokemon to shake out the danger. "Once you find it, snag the belongings and get back down here." Pericles responded with a grunt which was audible from above and Nate awaited the next steps. "Let's see where the results lie..." He muttered to Elaine as he waited in anticipation for the spoils of the search. He had faith in his Pancham to find what they needed, while down on the ground, Nate kept a keen eye on his surroundings even though Elaine also had a Pokemon of her own, he didn't want to attract unwanted attention from other Wild Pokemon while staying so focused on the task at hand. He would send another one of his team out if need be, but he hoped this search wouldn't take long. ___________________________________________ (Shadow) -Lvl. 07 - Knock Off, Screech, Ominous Wind, Night Shade - IC Happiness 4/5(Ruby) -Lvl. 05 - Tackle, Howl, - IC Happiness 4/5(Phantom) -Lvl. 05 - Scratch, Growl, Sand Attack, Fake Out, - IC Happiness 4/5(MoonClaw) -Lvl. 05 -Fling, Covet, Scratch, Baby Doll Eyes, Lick, Fake Tears- IC Happiness 4/5(Pericles) -Lvl. 05 - Tackle, Leer, Arm Thrust, - IC Happiness 4/5(Tatanka) -Lvl. 09 - Scratch, Growl, Branch Poke, Taunt,- IC Happiness 5/5

@natefyre Elaine wordlessly took a step back, Scorpio mimicking her, to allow Nate and Pericles more room around the tree. It was a rather large tree, so Elaine guessed that there would be plenty of more Pokemon other than just the Skwovet with the backpack hiding among the tree's limbs and leaves. As such, she kept one hand by her belt where a couple of other pokeballs rested. Scorpio seemed to be just a step behind the humans, glancing around the rest of their area for any other wild Pokemon. Elaine glanced over at Nate when he started talking about a deer-like Pokemon and mentioned he was from Hoenn. "Probably a Stantler," she said mildly. "Think they were first discovered in Johto. They're not seen too often around here, but they have been sighted. Depending on how much you actually saw, maybe it was even a Blitzle. That's more horse-like than deer-like, I'd say. Think Blitzle was originally from... Unova?" Elaine tilted her head, wondering herself for a moment before finding the tree more interesting again. Nate's Pancham seemed to do fine climbing the tree himself. However, he did peek into one too many nests, it seemed. He did spot something green -- aside from the leaves, of course -- partially hidden inside one such nest and enthusiastically reached in to grab it. Yet, when Pericles grabbed the backpack, the Skwovet was inside and tried to yank it back in. Several Oran and Pecha berries began tumbling out of an open pocket, descending to the other limbs and the humans below. Attracted either to the berries or the commotion, a Rookidee and Pachirisu dived towards Nate and Elaine. "We got the Rookidee," Elaine said. "Water Pulse."Scorpio did as commanded, giving the Rookidee a faceful of water, the pressure directing the Rookidee a little further down the path so the pair had more room to battle. The Pachirisu gathered several Oran berries and seemed to growl at Nate for getting too close to its prize. If you'd like, include a dice roll in your next post and the roll will help me determine whether Pericles "wins" the backpack and/or what state it's in. You will not be able to see the dice roll until you publish your post. Otherwise, feel free to continue your narrative as you wish. No pressure either way.

Mod Kris Awesome let me try the dice roll! We have that option on my forum, too! So am familiar. Status: Battling Nate enjoyed exchanging conversation with Elaine, probably the longest conversation he's had with an individual around these parts and the most social he has ever been. It engaged the brain and helped him keep some sanity after a time. Being on his own as long as he was did not do him any favors. He heard her talk of a Stantler and his brows raised. "Ah! I think I may have read about that one in a book once. The Johto Region is a fascinating place." He then heard her suggest maybe it being a 'Blitzle' in which was a Pokemon Nate was certainly unfamiliar with. "A Blitzle you say? Can't say I know that one. But by how you describe it I would certainly care to observe one eventually." He tries and recollects the Pokemon he saw further down the woods and does not think it was horse like. "I am almost sure it was a Stantler that I saw however. Such a striking creature." Some Pokemon he didn't want to catch, because their natural beauty would be compromised where they dwelled. Some were happy where they were. And that's something he tries not to screw with. As the two Trainers shared their idle chatter, up in the tree, it didn't take long before Pericles was able to spot the backpack the girl requested to be returned. And also the Skwovet, which was not going to give it up easily. Pericles wasn't one to simply quit either, and welcomed a challenge. He snickered at the annoying squirrel and kept tugging not letting up just as the Skwovet was giving it all it could as well during this tug of war. Roll For Beating The Skwovet: s34cTZWlThe Pancham did what it could, but the Skwovet's grip was rather strong. It would keep up this contest of strength while Nate and Elaine held their ground below. During the pulling and tugging however, Pericles noticed some berries fall out of the bag they were grasping and gave out an anxious gasp, along with it a small bird Pokemon and a colorful squirrel different looking than the Skwovet rushed down the tree flustered at the chaos and trying to grab up the escaping berries. Pericles almost lost focus for a second worried about its Trainer, but quickly remained fixated on Skwovet, refusing to lose this bout. As soon as he gets the bag, he would run down to Nate and assist as needed. He pulled harder and harder so he can try and speed up his victory unless the Skwovet manages to shake the Pancham off. Nate looks up noticing alot of business happening up the tree after getting lost in conversation and snaps his attention to that area. The tree began to shake almost violently and some berries rolled down to the wooded floor. Shortly after, A Pachirisu comes skittering down the tree along with an irate Rookidee. Nate jumps back a foot or so somewhat startled at the sudden sight. Elaine acts quickly against the Rookidee with a well aimed Water Pulse from Totodile getting it out of the way, and the Pachirisu growls at Nate gathering up as many berries as it could, giving off quite an aggressive vibe as it gathered. Nate shouts up at his Pancham. "Pericles? How are you doin buddy?" The Pericles lets out an exhausted groan down to Nate as he continues the tugging with the Skwovet and the tree keeps up its shaking. It obviously found something and was having quite a time up there. Nate could at least keep the Pachirisu busy down below while Pericles kept at its search. He addresses Elaine first and then he would address the electric rodent in front of him. "Thanks for taking care of the Rookidee. I believe I have this little guy under control." He reassures Elaine and makes small talk with the critter. "You should learn to share those berries with others, and not be so mean and selfish. Now let's see how I want to handle you." He takes out his Pokedex to get a read of the Pokemon in front of him. POKEDEX ENTRY REGISTERED. PACHIRISU, THE ELECSQUIRREL POKEMON. It makes fur balls that crackle with static electricity. It stores them with berries in tree holes. Nate purses his lips and decides who he needs to battle it. "An electric type huh? Ok, Phantom, why don't you give it a shot!" He takes out Phantom's Poke' Ball and sends out his Purrloin with confidence. Phantom comes out and immediately stands on its hind legs at the ready with its claws out and a sinister smile on its face. "Phantom you got this. Use Sand Attack, then, Scratch!" Phantom gave a hearty meow and leaped into the air spewing a stream of thick sand at the squirrel sending it barreling backwards. It then landed gracefully rushing it with its claws using a harsh Scratch Attack across its left cheek while it was still on the ground from the sand. Afterwards, Phantom jumped back near Nate and awaited a form of retaliation from the Pachirisu. Peeved its berries it gathered are scattered all over the ground again and that it was attacked, Pachirisu quickly returned to its feet and dashed at the Purrloin at quite a speed using a Quick Attack on it which caused the kitty to fall a few feet backwards across the dirt and onto its bum. Next it stood still and thrusted its elbows into its sides causing a yellow energy to circle and spiral around it. It remained in that spot as this energy began to enter its body and collect using Bide for an attack at a later time. Nate grew worried. "Its biding its energy! I know that move, Phantom we have to tread carefully. From what I understand this move also never misses. But we can still lower its attack for the sake of the battle. Use Growl! And then Scratch again!" Phantom understands its duties and Growls ferociously at the squirrel while it bided its energy, and then rushed it again for a Scratch across its other cheek too! This time however, it did not move and took the hit. Phantom leaped back near Nate somewhat worried upon what kind of power was going to come out of that Pokemon. After Phantom attacking twice, the electric squirrel type retaliates against Phantom for the two moves using its stored energy against it, taking the power from the Scratch attack and absorbing it to strike back at the cat. While brightly glowing yellow with its stored energy, Pachirisu runs at Phantom and bashes it unleashing Bide's power sending it tumbling into the bushes. Nate yells out. "Phantom no! Are you ok?!" Phantom rolls forward out of the bushes pretty roughed up - fur covered in leaves and twigs and some scuff marks on its belly. But it remains in the fight. It gets to all fours and shakes off the debris from itself feeling the full force of Pachirisu's attack but not backing down yet. Pachirisu then lets out a Growl of its own causing its shrills to land in Phantom's ears making it quake somewhat in shivers. Go for another Growl! Lower its attack again! And then use Fake Out and try and petrify it for a second!" Phantom nods and lets out another Growl sending a wave of sound again throughout the squirrel's body causing it to shake, and then with open palms and claws out, smacks the Pokemon across its chest with a titanic Fake Out, causing it to vibrate uncontrollably and its face to go white. This caused the Pachirisu to be unable to react for a time and flinch. Taking up some of its reaction time, The Pachirisu only manages one move to respond to the Purrloin but finally is able to regain its senses after the Fake Out maneuver and tries a Quick Attack on Phantom, however, Phantom was able to see the move coming as the squirrel comes out of its wobbly state and jumps out of the way to dodge it since it lost some speed from the recovery process. Nate praises his Pokemon for the dodge. "GOOD WORK PHANTOM! Give it another Sand Attack! And then throw in another Scratch!" Phantom obliges, spurting a stream of sand from its mouth at a safe distance, and then heroically jumping on the stream of its Sand Attack immediately after, and closing in on Pachirisu once the sand engulfs it, and Scratches it across the top of its skull causing the Wild Pokemon to topple over on its side. On its final wind, the electric type seems to now be swaying somewhat in a weak state. However, it remembers it had an Oran Berry stored in its tail, one it managed to hide during its time picking up the falling berries. It then whips its tail towards it mouth and consumes the Oran Berry restoring a small bit of health. It then, with a new burst of energy, rushes Phantom with a Quick Attack. IT HITS! The sand that has been drenching the squirrel's fur didn't seem to stop it this time from hitting its mark, likely due to the new energy and nutrients it received, it was able to regain its speed and slam into the Purrloin sending it falling on its back. Phantom rolls backward several times getting its mane caught up in the dirt, but digs its claws into the ground and pushes itself rightfully back up. "This is a great match for you Phantom! Ok buddy - use Growl again! And then Fake Out once more! We need to end this!" Phantom gives an almost roar like Growl and it shakes the foundation of the Pachirisu causing it to wobble even more. It then etches out its palms and runs at the squirrel thrusting its paws into its chest and causing the rodent to shiver and shake once again in fear with Fake Out. It twitches unable to move for a time taking up some of its reflex ability and then regains its conscious and stamps its feet into the ground staying in place. Beyond annoyed with the cat Pokemon at this point, once again collecting yellow energy around itself to absorb for another Bide attack. "We can't let it strike you with another move storing its energy like that. Use Growl once more and then Scratch, giving it all you got before it can respond! It's almost down!" Phantom listens to its Trainer intently getting a bit tuckered out at this point, but continuing to obey. It lets out circles of sound enveloping the biding Pachirisu filling its ears with another nasty Growl attack. It doesn't shake or falter and endures the move letting its attack suffer. Afterwards, expanding its claws as much as it can, Phantom gets to all fours, and runs in a left and right dash and then leaps at the squirrel with a Scratch across its nose area and lands with a thud falling on its face from exhaustion unable to hit a graceful note after the attack. Phantom then turns back to the Pachirisu huffing and puffing laying on its spine watching to see if that would be the end of it. The critter continues standing but the yellow energy field around it dissipates. Its tiny legs start to quiver, and finally, it topples over onto its belly - its eyes rolling back into its head and the Pokemon faints. Giving it all it had left in hopes to land one final hit, but coming up short with Phantom being the victor. Phantom begins to purr and closes its eyes comfy and proud of itself. "You're a real spectacle little guy. Now come on back and rest." He takes out Phantom's Poke' Ball after congratulating it and returns it. He then turns his attention to Elaine. "I don't see the Rookidee coming back. You think your Totodile scared it off a ways? And my Pancham..." Nate throws a gaze back up the tree hoping he's ok. "I am sure he's doing his best up there. He's strong. I know he'll be ok." Awaiting Pericles's efforts, Nate looks down at the scattered berries. "Shall we gather some of these up?" He asks Elaine, thinking they can share a few morsels. ___________________________________________ (Shadow) -Lvl. 07 - Knock Off, Screech, Ominous Wind, Night Shade - IC Happiness 5/5(Ruby) -Lvl. 05 - Tackle, Howl, - IC Happiness 5/5(Phantom) -Lvl. 05 - Scratch, Growl, Sand Attack, Fake Out, - IC Happiness 5/5(MoonClaw) -Lvl. 05 -Fling, Covet, Scratch, Baby Doll Eyes, Lick, Fake Tears- IC Happiness 5/5(Pericles) -Lvl. 05 - Tackle, Leer, Arm Thrust, - IC Happiness 5/5(Tatanka) -Lvl. 09 - Scratch, Growl, Branch Poke, Taunt,- IC Happiness 1/5

@natefyre, Phantom gained 7 exp points! Phantom grew to level 6! (Also, apologies if my previous post wasn't clear -- Elaine and Scorpio engaged in battle with the Rookidee rather than just hit it away.) "They are beautiful," Elaine agreed as Nate mentioned seeing a Stantler. "I'd like to visit the other regions one day. After going through Ascua, that's my goal."
When the Rookidee and Pachirisu attacked, Scorpio and Elaine followed the Rookidee for their own battle after the pressure of the Water Pulse pushed it a little further down the path. It took the pair a few minutes, but Elaine returned in time to watch the rest of Nate's battle with the Pachirisu. When he asked about the Rookidee, Elaine tapped the new Pokeball on her belt. "It's been taken care of," she said.
Nate's Purrloin took care of the Pachirisu, although it seemed to struggle a bit. Nevertheless, it prevailed, and the Pachirisu fainted. Nate mentioned the scattered berries and Elaine glanced up at the tree.
"This doesn't seem to be a berry tree," she said, "although, I can't see the higher branches to be fair... To me, though, these berries were probably gathered by a Pokemon. I wouldn't want to steal a Pokemon's food. You do what you want, though."
Of course, unbeknownst to the trainers, the berries had come from the girl's backpack, which Pericles was still valiantly playing tug-of-war with the Skwovet after. After another few moments, however, the strap that the Skwovet was holding onto ripped, causing the Skwovet to fall backwards into its nest and Pericles to fall backwards nearly off the branch.
Either way, Pericles had the backpack!

Mod Kris Status: Accomplished Talking about the beauty of Pokemon with another person really seemed fulfilling to Nate. He was glad others in the world shared that common interest. Pokemon were truly fantastic creatures. The mysteries of how they got to the planet and their process of evolution is still hazy in many ways. Perhaps one day more answers will be revealed. Elaine responded to Nate about the Rookidee tapping the Poke' Ball on her belt and Nate nodded. "Excellent to know you've got that situated. The Pachirisu was a bit of a headache - but the poor little guy is down and out now. He was too aggressive and had to be dealt with. I didn't see its personality meshing well with my team enough to capture it. But perhaps another Pachirisu will come along one day I might fancy." Nate then hears Elaine's comment about the berries and agrees. "I don't want to steal other Pokemon's food, either. So we can leave things on the ground as they are. It'll feed the hungry wild critters around here if it doesn't belong to a particular soul." As Nate said this comment he heard more rustling in the tree above and eye balled it. "That doesn't sound like it's getting much better up there. Pericles, what's going on?" While Nate calls up to him, Pericles just finished snagging the backpack from the Skwovet. Although a bit damaged, he managed to nab it eventually. But not without consequence. As the panda tugs on the bag and wins the tugging tussle, he barrels back and nearly falls off the branch it was balancing on! He tumbles half his body off the branch and is able to grab hold with one paw and a scoop of one of his legs clinging for life on the limb. He doesn't let go of the bag as the Skwovet recoils to its nest. It wouldn't be long before the rodent rushes the Pancham again to get the bag back so Pericles acts fast. He growls at the Skwovet and then cries out down to Nate dropping the backpack straight down in Nate's direction so it can get a better grip on the branch before it falls, hoping his Trainer can see it coming and catch it. Nate, still thankfully looking up hearing Pericles respond to him, sees the backpack falling down from the tree and catches it. He looks to Elaine. "Pericles did it. Here it is! I guess we should brace ourselves for whatever else might come down from there too." Nate keeps a gaze up above wondering which Pokemon or thing might fall down next. Once the bag was finally and safely out of the way and in the proper hands, Pericles is able to hoist itself back into a steady position on the tree branch and gets into a fighting stance wondering if the Skwovet would try to make a move on it. He wasn't going to back down if the squirrel was looking to get feisty. He didn't want to risk trying to climb down either and the Skwovet giving chase and angrily attacking during Pericles's escape. If it wanted to fight, Pericles would force it off the tree along with it and finish the battle on the ground. It calls out to Nate as it stays up top. "Pan...Pancham Cham!" Nate hears it loud and clear and its cries seemed very affirming and confident. "Sounds like he's certainly got things taken care of up there so far. Let's keep being patient and see what comes of Pericles and the culprit going forward. It'll either be messy, or an easy resolve. With no more backpack, that Wild Pokemon has to eventually give up. Either peacefully or...not so much." Nate had faith in Pericles and his combat abilities. He was sure his Pokemon would be more than up for a good fight if it lead to that. ___________________________________________ (Shadow) -Lvl. 07 - Knock Off, Screech, Ominous Wind, Night Shade - IC Happiness 1/5(Ruby) -Lvl. 05 - Tackle, Howl, - IC Happiness 1/5(Phantom) -Lvl. 05 - Scratch, Growl, Sand Attack, Fake Out, - IC Happiness 1/5(MoonClaw) -Lvl. 05 -Fling, Covet, Scratch, Baby Doll Eyes, Lick, Fake Tears- IC Happiness 1/5(Pericles) -Lvl. 05 - Tackle, Leer, Arm Thrust, - IC Happiness 1/5(Tatanka) -Lvl. 09 - Scratch, Growl, Branch Poke, Taunt,- IC Happiness 2/5

@natefyre Elaine kept her gaze on the tree branches above as well until the backpack fell from the sky and into Nate's waiting arms. She crossed over to him and inspected the pack.
"Well, it doesn't look new anymore," she murmured, gesturing to the fabric being a little scuffed up from its adventure and noticeably the rip in one of the straps. "I'm sure that can be sewed together again..." She glanced inside some of the pockets, finding a Nest ball snuggled tight amid some blankets inside the largest pocket. "That must be the girl's Pokemon. Good. It's still here."
One of the open pockets still had a few berries and Elaine glanced at the scattered berries on the ground. "Think that's where all the berries came from?" Her question was half-directed up towards Pericles, as if the Pancham would be able to hear and answer her. "That's probably why the Skwovet decided to take the bag. The girl was probably careless enough to leave it unattended. Any wild Pokemon would be attracted to the food. Scorpio, that's not yours."
As if to prove her point, her Totodile huffed and dropped the berry he had just been about to eat. Scorpio then turned his attention up towards the tree branches, where he could hear the Skwovet chatter rapidly.
Opting not to attack Pericles directly, Skwovet ignored the Pancham and easily climbed down the tree. It continued to ignore the trainers and scoop up as many berries as it could before retreating into the tree and its nest. Elaine told Scorpio to leave it alone.
"It's probably just trying to compete with all the trainers that pick its berry trees clean around here," she said, watching the Skwovet scurry away. Dryly, she added, "That, or judging by the amount of berries this kid had, she picked the Skwovet's food source clean herself.
"Well, the Pokeball is safe in the pack," Elaine said. "I'm satisfied. You returning it to the kid now?"

Mod Kris Status: Satisfied As the backpack fell into Nate's arms Elaine points out how damaged it appeared to be and goes into detail about the Skwovet's true intention and the berries that fell out of the bag. It seemed the little critter really didn't care for the Pokemon inside of it among other things. It was likely just hungry and frustrated that Trainers kept taking all its berries from its tree so decided to get some payback and take some food of its own from the intruders. It seemed a fair move; bold, but fair for a Wild Pokemon to get some revenge in that way. Nate sees the Totodile trying to gather up some of the food and chuckles. "He must be hungry..." Nate then sees the Skwovet shimmy down the tree and gather all the berries up tenfold in a frantic pace then dash back up the tree. Instinct told Nate to stop it and attack since those berries originally belonged to the little girl, but he stopped himself after a moment of hesitation and thinking once more about how the squirrel just wanted food since its tree kept getting depleted, and let it escape back up the tree. "I think you're right Elaine. It just wanted to feed itself which can be hard to do when Trainers keep coming by and taking its source. Yeah, I think all is well here. Let's head back." Nate looks up and calls down to Pericles. "Hey Pericles! Get your tushie down here, we are going back!" Pericles perks its ears to his Trainer's command as it sees the Skwovet skitter back to its nest directly in front of the panda and it growls at it clenching its fists wishing so badly to battle it. With its urge to fight, Pericles notices the Wild Pokemon additionally had a handful of berries it took up the tree with it and Pericles's tummy gave a slosh. His will to fight quickly dissipated and he sighed knowing he had to go back to Nate, and on an empty stomach no less. Pancham grumbled at the Skwovet. "Pancham Pan!" This was as if to say 'it's not over' and climbs down to reconvene with Nate. Once he reconnected with his Trainer, he pointed to his stomach and frowned. Nate could hear it gurgle. "Alright, sounds like someone is hungry after all that tugging and climbing. Let's head back to the Pokemon Center and return this bag, then we can eat." Pancham jumped in the air giving a hooray and was already beating Nate to the Pokemon Center for a head start. Nate gestures to Elaine. "Well, I suppose you'll come with too since you also decided to help her cause." Nate was referring to the girl's bag getting returned. His Pancham was way ahead now, so Nate picks up speed and does a quick power walk back to the Pokemon Center hoping Elaine would catch up too at her own leisure with the bag in his arms. "Cya there maybe!" He waves goodbye to her and heads back. ___________________________________________ (Shadow) -Lvl. 07 - Knock Off, Screech, Ominous Wind, Night Shade - IC Happiness 2/5(Ruby) -Lvl. 05 - Tackle, Howl, - IC Happiness 2/5(Phantom) -Lvl. 06 - Scratch, Growl, Sand Attack, Fake Out, - IC Happiness 2/5(MoonClaw) -Lvl. 05 -Fling, Covet, Scratch, Baby Doll Eyes, Lick, Fake Tears- IC Happiness 2/5(Pericles) -Lvl. 05 - Tackle, Leer, Arm Thrust, - IC Happiness 2/5(Tatanka) -Lvl. 09 - Scratch, Growl, Branch Poke, Taunt,- IC Happiness 3/5

@natefyre, Pericles gained 3 exp. points! Despite Nate's invitation to return to the Pokemon Center, Elaine shook her head. "Nah, we're sticking around here for some more training," she said. "Don't care about a reward or anything like that. Good luck out there."With that, she gave Nate a small wave and, with Scorpio at her heels, returned to head further into the woods. Meanwhile, the young girl was still pacing agitatedly right outside of the Pokemon Center. However, upon seeing Nate and his Pancham start returning, she brightened up and waited until he caught back up to her. Her excitement faltered at seeing the broken strap and opened pockets of her pack. "Aw... Mom's going to kill me," she muttered, flicking the broken strap. "Thanks for getting it back, though. I appreciate it. Here, let me see what I still have in here..."She took out her Nest ball and stuck it in her pocket before digging further into the pack. After a moment, she brought out small experience candy. "Here you go! I was going to use it on my Pokemon, but you can have it instead."

Mod Kris Status: Content Upon heading back to the little girl and saying goodbye to Elaine, the stranger he met responded with a 'no thanks' to Nate and she went to enjoy some training in the woods. It appears Nate had potentially made his first friend, or perhaps, at least a lovely acquaintance. He hopes one day to see her again and verbalizes his farewell. "Enjoy your training, and thanks for the help!" After those last few words he finds himself and Pericles at the Pokemon Center returning to the girl. Nate sees her excitement fester as he approaches with the bag and hands it over. She rummages through it frantically and doesn't seem too enthusiastic. Probably because the strap was torn. The look on her face said it all as she searched her bag and some of the color in her cheeks went away. But, once she noticed her Pokemon was found she seemed to calm down a bit. She also managed to find a little candy, different from the Rare Candy Nate had found, and gave it to him. When he trained in these woods next, he would use these candies for his team since he had more than one now. He stuffed the candy in his pocket and thanked the girl. "I am glad me and Pericles could help find your things; though not all in once piece. I hope your parents would understand." Pericles gives a shout up to the girl expressing his support to her. "It was also a fun training experience for the little guy. I will go ahead and heal up my Pokemon in the Pokemon Center, then take our leave. It was nice meeting you, maybe we shall meet again for a battle one day! Take care of yourself and thanks for the candy!" Nate gives the girl a sincere thank you and a nod, then parts ways with her and heads into the Pokemon Center to heal his Pokemon and also, transfer some for a bit of Day Care. He was done with yet another chapter on his journey, and soon, his first Gym Badge will be the next step. But for now, more training is close at hand! ___________________________________________ (Shadow) -Lvl. 07 - Knock Off, Screech, Ominous Wind, Night Shade - IC Happiness 3/5(Ruby) -Lvl. 05 - Tackle, Howl, - IC Happiness 3/5(Phantom) -Lvl. 06 - Scratch, Growl, Sand Attack, Fake Out, - IC Happiness 3/5(MoonClaw) -Lvl. 05 -Fling, Covet, Scratch, Baby Doll Eyes, Lick, Fake Tears- IC Happiness 3/5(Pericles) -Lvl. 05 - Tackle, Leer, Arm Thrust, - IC Happiness 3/5(Tatanka) -Lvl. 09 - Scratch, Growl, Branch Poke, Taunt,- IC Happiness 4/5
