Mod Kris Status: Optimistic With a more expanded team, and a few of them getting somewhat stronger, Nate wanted to ensure some more training could be had but at a more challenging location to prep him for his first gym battle coming up! On top of that, he had a few spots on his team yet to fill. And he had a feeling a Pancham would be a great addition to help round out his Pokemon. He had heard Pancham could be found here from whispers throughout Greenberry Town, but wasn't certain. He thought he would try and look here as long as he could and get some training in while he's at it. Even though he had a solid foundation for a team already, he had alot of work to do with them if he planned to beat the Gym Challenge. He entered the vast wooded area unsure what kind of Pokemon to expect or encounter first, but there certainly was lots of shade and tons of small spots for Pokemon to hide or observe Nate and his team from afar if they wished. If Nate was lucky, he'd find the Pancham early on, but he had his doubts. He walked carefully and darted his eyes among all his surroundings as he trekked through the woods knowing he was now in an area that was a bit more dangerous than the last, with stronger Pokemon lurking as well to boot. He kept his eyes peeled for the small Panda Pokemon as he went, being as alert and also as cautious as he could. I need to watch what Pokemon I can handle around here and what Pokemon I should avoid. My team still needs to get stronger, and this is the place to do it, but tick off the wrong resident in these woods, and we're all toast. He thought to himself these things while also keeping in mind Pokemon types and which Pokemon may be best in battle on his team against whatever native types lived here. He couldn't allow himself to stir too many pots in this forest, so he would try to play nice if he could help it and wondered if any Pokemon around here would prefer consenting to a battle instead of just being attacked. He learned this the hard way with his Blipbug who still seems unhappy with Nate after the way it was captured last time. He would have to also get creative not to attract the whole forest population against him if he caused too much commotion. Perhaps leaving and coming back in increments for training may also help. In any case, as he continued walking along the wooded path he knew he had to be ready for anything. ___________________________________________ (Shadow) -Lvl. 06 - Knock Off, Screech, Ominous Wind - IC Happiness 3/5(Ruby) -Lvl. 04 - Tackle, Howl, - IC Happiness 3/5(Phantom) -Lvl. 04 - Scratch, Growl, Sand Attack, - IC Happiness 3/5(Aura) -Lvl. 04 -Struggle Bug, - IC Happiness 2/5

Nate's appearance in the Greenberry Woods was announced to all in hearing range by a Rookidee perched on one of the limbs of the tree right by the trainer. The Rookidee itself gave a few more calls out to the other Pokemon in the area before casting a beady and steady gaze at Nate, watching to see what he would do.
The Rookidee's cry did alert a nearby Rattata, startling it enough to burst out of some of the nearby shrubbery and nearly collide with Nate's leg as it ran past. It paused long enough before a shadowed glen to chatter at Nate -- either in scolding or apologizing -- before looking further into the glen.
Yet, the bird Pokemon's warning didn't seem to deter a small Cutiefly from getting up close and personal with Nate. The little bug was inches from Nate's face, inspecting him for a few moments before giving out a chirp and flying ahead. @natefyre

Mod Kris Status: Filled With Splendor It didn't take long for Nate to already run into some Pokemon after just a few more steps into the woods. He heard the unique cry of a Rookiedee echo throughout the branches of the trees above, which Nate judged was not the happiest of sounds as it did seem a bit...forward with the tone of its chirps. Next as he walked, he was stopped by a Rattata who crashed into his leg. He looked down as it chattered away at him then turned its body to eye the shady glen ahead. Nate kneels down at the Rattata trying to determine if it was upset or sorry for its collision with the Trainer. As he did this a Cutiefly buzzed by Nate and nearly touched him while flying in his personal space. He didn't mind, and looked at it with a smile as it took off ahead and let it go without a fuss. He wasn't going to bother it and be a bit more self controlled this time not letting the excitement of Pokemon Battles or encounters, overwhelm him as much in these parts. He turned his attention back to the Rattata, still knelt, and spoke to it. "Hello, no need to fret with me, Rattata. What seems to be the problem? Upset I was in your way? Or scared because you bumped me? Or perhaps..." Nate turns his head cautiously over to the shady glen thinking maybe a third option is what the little Pokemon was thinking. Did it need help over in the glen? "Is there trouble over in that shady Glen, Rattata? Did you need some assistance? Or would you simply like me to let you be on your way over yonder." He wasn't sure if the Pokemon was trying to bring Nate's attention to the glen in particular, but Nate DID remember he made some Rattata angry earlier on the previous route, and saw them run into the direction of the woods. He wondered if maybe he was being lured into a trap for attacking one of their own. Either way, if this Rattata did want to lead him into a battle, he didn't mind that either. ___________________________________________ (Shadow) -Lvl. 06 - Knock Off, Screech, Ominous Wind - IC Happiness 4/5(Ruby) -Lvl. 04 - Tackle, Howl, - IC Happiness 4/5(Phantom) -Lvl. 04 - Scratch, Growl, Sand Attack, - IC Happiness 4/5(Aura) -Lvl. 04 -Struggle Bug, - IC Happiness 3/5

The Rattata tilted its head to the side as Nate began talking, not fully understanding but it seemed calm enough with Nate's gentle tone. Instead of responding, however, the Rattata turned back to the glen just as a darker version of the species appeared at the glen's opening. The Alolan Rattata sniffed in Nate's general direction before nudging its standard companion and the pair went into the glen.
Considering Nate wasn't being urged nor dissuaded from entering the glen, following that hidden path would be completely up to him.
If Nate ignored the glen and continued on the path, he will find a Gulpin swallowing a small shrub whole before spitting out the branches. Nate best watch his step so he doesn't trip on discarded twigs as the Gulpin went about its business.
In fact, it seemed about to swallow a second shrub before realizing that nearby was a sleeping Fomantis. The Grass-type Pokemon was snoozing, its leaves stretched wide to soak up as much sunlight as the leafy treetops allowed to stream down, and the Gulpin was apparently courteous enough to waddle on by without disturbing the Fomantis. @natefyre

Mod Kurt Status: Calm The interaction with the Rattata was mainly pleasant. It went off into the glen after a darker furred Rattata gestured the one Nate collided with, to come into the glen with it. In Nate's mind, this told him that they were fine and had support wherever they were going. Nate took out his Pokedex and pointed it at the darker furry Rattata as he has never seen it before prior to it vanishing into the glen. "Let's have a look at you shall we?" Nate whispers to himself as the Pokedex does its data running. POKEDEX ENTRY REGISTERED. Rattata, the Mouse Pokemon. Alolan Form. Night after night, they sneak into people’s homes seeking food. A massive outbreak of them has become an issue of public concern. Nate did not have a particular interest to catch a Rattata at this time, but he was curious what was in the glen however.
Before he decides to go into the glen and see what else may be in that area of the forest, he studies the rest of his surroundings and options. He notices a Gulpin down the way having a feast, and a little Fomantis resting in a patch of sun. Both seemed to be enjoying peaceful activity, and Nate had no desire to bother them. If he approached them and inquired if either felt like taking on a battle during a state of relaxation, they'd probably feel crass about it. So, Nate decides his best bet right now to both find a Pancham and also find some Pokemon that may wish to battle, would be in that Glen.
Not only did that area appear to go into a deeper part of the woods, but also may hold a higher chance to find more rare Pokemon since there is more spots to hide and stay further away from humans and Trainers that may wonder in. If it hadn't been for the Rattata encounter, he may have never paid any attention to this hideaway path. If he couldn't find a Pancham in this shaded area, at the very least he would find a challenging Pokemon that would be more than happy to have a test of strength with Nate. He steps through the glen bravely, and keeps a lookout for any Pokemon that may want to interact or engage with Nate in either a positive or negative sense.

The pair of Rattata had since disappeared further into the glen, leaving Nate to enter the area by himself.
Upon passing through the threshold of the glen, the short path led to a clearing surrounded by bushy shrubbery, foliage, and a dense treeline. The lighting was dim, with plenty of shadows playing amid the few streams of sunlight that could break through the leafy treetops. Among some of the shrubbery and partially camouflaged with the shadows was a Tangela, giving itself a few shakes, its noodle-like appendages settling into a more uniformed knot around it.
Off to the right of the clearing, a stream of sunlight was interrupted by a Stantler grazing amid the taller grasses. With its bulk, the sunlight was bouncing off of its antlers, making the stream glint off of something else on the ground a mere few feet away from the Pokemon.
A Pachirisu on a nearby tree seemed to be captivated by the glint, staring with wide eyes as it gazed at the sunlight bouncing off of whatever treasure was on the ground. It seemed oblivious to most of its surroundings. @natefyre

Mod Kurt Status: Awestruck Nate's intuition seemed to be correct. As he entered the deep glen with alot more shade engulfing the area and alot more places for Pokemon to hide, he instantly felt goosebumps envelope his skin. The vibe was definitely more intense here, and his Pokemon may be slightly in over their heads going forward through this brush, but he believed in them. There was very little sunlight and the temperature seemed to shift around Nate. A great place for Shadow to utilize in a battle, but nonetheless, more dangerous than the setting before. Nate's caution continues to be high. After his first few steps into the glen, Nate hears a slight rustle in some bushes and flashes his eyes in that direction. At first he sees nothing, then winces his eyes and lingers his head a bit closer to the source and notices a face inside the bushes. There was definitely a Pokemon in there but he didn't know what exactly. He flips open his Pokedex and points it at the face discretely. POKEDEX ENTRY REGISTERED. Tangela, the Vine Pokemon. Tangela's vines snap off easily if they are grabbed. This happens without pain, allowing it to make a quick getaway. The lost vines are replaced by newly grown vines the very next day. Nate's face beams with curiosity as he had heard these Pokemon were quite rare, and can evolve into something quite remarkable. He knew what he came to these woods for as a true powerhouse to his team, but a Tangela, might be a great wildcard. He starts thinking what may entice it to come out and join his team. He wonders to himself and then pulls out an Oran Berry from his jacket pocket. He waggles it with a firm grasp in his hand in case it tries to swipe it and whispers to the Tangela; "Hey you in there, why not come out and say hello? I have a berry here you might like. Let's get to know each other." He waits to see what kind of response Tangela was going to give. He then scans his surroundings while he was waiting to ensure he doesn't attract any unwanted attention, and looks ahead noticing a single ray of sunlight beaming down on....well...at this distance it looked like a large deer Pokemon of some sort just to the right of the path. At this distance it looked like nothing he's really seen before. In his mind maybe hinting a rare creature. "What IS that?" Nate whispers to himself as he studied his environment. There was also something shiny shimmering on the ground next to it. That would be Nate's next stop, but he had to ensure this encounter with the Tangela was quick. He wouldn't rush the Pokemon's decision, but Nate would try his best to see if this unique Pokemon would come out of the bushes first before he continues further down the way. If he was cautious and quiet enough, just maybe he could get it to go with him without interrupting the other Pokemon ahead.

The Tangela, on its part, merely gazed at Nate when the trainer came a little closer and offered a berry. The Pokemon's eyes were all that could be seen amid the shadowy mass beneath the multitude of appendages. The Tangela didn't seem particularly hungry or inclined to move at the moment, at the very least for a small oran berry, which it could probably find easily enough within the woods on its own. On the other hand, it didn't move as if to leave, either.
The Stantler, though, seemed like its grazing was going to take it further into the woods, out of Nate's sight, within a few minutes. It didn't seem to care -- perhaps not even notice -- the shimmering item that was on the ground nearby. Yet, when the Stantler moved, it blocked the particular piece of sunlight that caused said item to glint, breaking the Pachirisu's concentration on the shiny object.
Due to this, the Pachirisu shook itself, seemed to contemplate on going after the object, but got distracted again by something further up the tree. It scampered away, its tree dislodging two Pecha berries in the process. One of the berries bounced and rolled closer to the path and, subsequently, Nate himself. The second berry bounced off the head of a Sewaddle that was crawling along the floor. @natefyre

Mod Kurt Let's see what the Lure can do! Status: Puzzled It did not seem as if the Tangela wanted to budge. Perhaps it was happy where it was, but for a Pokemon hiding in a bush, in Nate's mind that told him maybe it was scared of this place, or maybe it needed a Trainer to help get it out of its shell and not be afraid of growth. It couldn't have been the most comfortable shaking around in there. Nate's thought process was interrupted temporarily as he notices something rolling by his feet; a Pecha Berry suddenly landed by his side and he bent down and picked it up. Not that it would do any good, seeing as the Tangela refused the berry he originally offered. It must not be hungry. So he stashes the Pecha Berry in his pocket for now along with the Oran Berry and thinks up a new strategy. Thinking back he remembered buying something from the Peddler at the start of the wooded path for an occasion just like this. He reaches in his pants pocket and takes out a small bottle filled with a green liquid. His brain sparked an idea. He was going to use the Lure he purchased earlier to entice the Tangela to come out. And from there, hopefully have it cooperate and join his team. Well, I sure hope this works. I could really use this little one on my team. He thought this to himself as a last ditch effort to see if this Pokemon would be more sociable with Nate and hopefully a battle can be avoided with it to join his adventure and meet his team. He slowly removed the cap of the Lure and isolated the trail of its aroma to specifically hit the Tangela's sense of smell and keep its contents specific to just the bush the Pokemon was hiding in. Nate waved his hand to waft the aroma to the Tangela and get it to come out. Funny enough, this caused Nate's Pokemon, Aura, to come out of its ball and have a sniff. It was so attracted to the aroma it began squirming up Nate's leg trying to grab the vial. Nate forgot this Pokemon still wasn't entirely keen to follow Nate's orders yet thus leaving its ball to wiggle around without being told. Nate whispers to Aura. "Please, not now. Here, get on my shoulders while I try to get this Tangela to cooperate with me. Don't you want a new friend to join us?" He speaks to Aura in a low tone so the Tangela isn't frightened if it comes out closer to the Lure scent. Aura makes a snickering face at Nate and sticks out its little bug tongue at him. It then defiantly crawls up on Nate's head instead and sits there opposite of his shoulders. The scent was luckily calming it down pretty quickly though, and with its lethargic nature, Aura was starting to fall asleep on Nate's head as he waited for the Tangela. "Oh brother. One of these days I'll get you to like me you know." He spoke softly to Aura. "Goodnight little friend." It then drifted off into a nap on his head. Nate was so focused on Tangela he forgot about the strange Deer Pokemon up ahead. He peers an eye that way while keeping another cautious eye on Tangela and notices the Deer had gone further up ahead, it was all but nearly a blurry figure now. It was ok though, if it was meant to be, Nate would see it again later on. He also noticed as he peaked that way the glimmer was gone, but he still saw a shape of an object in that direction he would later pickup. But currently his focus remained on Tangela. What did he have to do if this did not work, to get it to trust him? This might be a feat. ___________________________________________ (Shadow) -Lvl. 06 - Knock Off, Screech, Ominous Wind - IC Happiness 2/5(Ruby) -Lvl. 04 - Tackle, Howl, - IC Happiness 2/5(Phantom) -Lvl. 04 - Scratch, Growl, Sand Attack, - IC Happiness 2/5(Aura) -Lvl. 04 -Struggle Bug, - IC Happiness 1/5

The Tangela seemed to sniff -- it was a little difficult to tell, considering all of the appendages covering the majority of its face -- when Nate brought out the lure. The smell seemed favorable to the Pokemon and it was obviously curious about the lure, but it seemed content to remain in its spot, enjoying the scent from there. It wasn't quite sure what the human was trying to do. Perhaps Nate should just tell the Tangela what he wanted.
The lure, however, did bring about a few other Pokemon in the area. A small Joltik dropped from the treetops somewhere to the left of Nate, hanging suspended in the air on a silk line of webbing, enticed by the lure itself. A curious chitter from a tree branch on Nate's right revealed a Grookey hiding amid the leaves, the monkey-like Pokemon wondering what the amazing smell was.
Upon seeing it was a human, both Pokemon were a touch confused, but neither seemed frightened at the idea. @natefyre, fun fact with the lure: it works similar to the games in that it will entice some of the rarer/stronger Pokemon out by the mods giving an advantage to rolling for said rarer Pokemon. In the case of your post, it affected the appearance of the Joltik and Grookey more so than the Tangela, since Nate already found it.

Mod Kurt Gotcha! Blast, you made this a tough decision. Nate doesn't like to give up easily. Especially on this Tangela. Let's see if Nate can get two with one stone. Status: Overwhelmed Even with the Lure, the Tangela remains stubborn. Nate is just about at his stopping point to get the Tangela to come out and simply professes to it. "Tangela, won't you please come join me and my team on our journey? I would love for you to be my partner." Nate kneels down on one knee with the lure in hand as it continues wafting in its direction, and reaches out with his other hand. As he does this, a monkey Pokemon swings down to greet him attracted to the Lure, and the electric filled tick Pokemon Joltik comes down as well. At this point Nate had to start thinking more critically. He looks to his left and right and plays it cool to the other Pokemon. " Hey you two, enjoying the scent? Care to help me get this Tangela to come out and join me and my team?" Nate smiles and starts cheering. "Come out Tangela! Join the team! Hang with me and you'll surely gleam!" He did a little rhyme as he cheered for it to come out and either take his offer or remain here. He was hoping his words and tone along with his motions of his arms cheering the Tangela on seemed fun for the others to join too. He then turned his attention to the Grookey and takes out his Pokedex pointing to it calmly. POKEDEX ENTRY REGISTERED. Grookey, the CHIMP Pokemon. When it uses its special stick to strike up a beat, the sound waves produced carry revitalizing energy to the plants and flowers in the area. Nate smirked and then gave the monkey a wink. "You like rhythm right? And sound? Why don't you join me too? We can cheer on other Pokemon along the way!" He then stashes away his Pokedex and takes out a Poke' Ball and shows it to the Grookey. He then looks at the Tangela and hopes it watches what Nate was trying to do. "We can all be friends and be a team together." Nate then looks at the Joltik some feet away along the treeline and nods to it. "And if you don't mind a journey and visiting new sights, I won't fret if you join too." If Nate's luck would have it, the Grookey and Tangela would both join him, or perhaps one or the other decides a battle would be better. The Joltik Nate would not be heartbroken if it decided against joining, since he had more of an interest in a grass type rounding out his team. Nate even offered an additional thought to the Tangela and Grookey in particular. "I'd also gladly prove myself and have a battle with either one of you if you wish, so you know you'll be with a strong and capable friend!" He wasn't entirely sure what the nature of each Pokemon was in front of him just yet - the Tangela maybe more of the fearful or shy type, but the Grookey, it might enduldge or simply join without fretting. Either or, Nate had to find a way to get them both to have an interest in his offer. He holds the lure up a bit higher in his other hand that was not holding the Poke' Ball and gestures to it. "I'd let you both smell this all day long if you'd like! Come along with me and I'll be sure to buy more!" He was working every angle. And one of his methods had to work. He would keep trying as hard as he could. Aura remained sleeping, but the scent being brought higher to its sense of smell was starting to slowly stir it. Nate had to try and get these Pokemon to make a decision soon before Aura wakes up again and panics after seeing Wild Pokemon surrounding it. Nate couldn't really return it to its Poke'Ball yet either due to having both his hands full. He was surely taking a gamble here. ___________________________________________ (Shadow) -Lvl. 06 - Knock Off, Screech, Ominous Wind - IC Happiness 3/5(Ruby) -Lvl. 04 - Tackle, Howl, - IC Happiness 3/5(Phantom) -Lvl. 04 - Scratch, Growl, Sand Attack, - IC Happiness 3/5(Aura) -Lvl. 04 -Struggle Bug, - IC Happiness 2/5

While Nate's silly dance and rhyme seemed to have frightened off the Joltik -- the small Pokemon quickly retreated back up its webbing to the treetops -- the Grookey tilted its head, curiously amused at Nate, and stayed close by. The Tangela seemed to laugh good-naturedly at this human but didn't feel inclined to move due to the cheer.
However, the idea of a battle made the Tangela move. From behind the shadows of its many appendages, the Tangela's eyes gleamed and it gave Nate another look-over. At some point, it seemed to think, "Ah, what the hell, why not?" and emerged from its spot. Many wild Pokemon seemed to enjoy testing would-be trainers with battles, enjoying the exercise and seeing if the human is worthy.
The Grookey, enjoying the rhyme, also seemed like a battle would be a good idea. It jumped down to be a respectable distance away from the Tangela, ready to face Nate as well, and the clearing around it seemed to glow green with budding shoots of grass. It's unclear if the Tangela and Grookey would work together or independently from each other.
As such, the Tangela started the battle with an Absorb on the only trainer Pokemon it could see -- Aura the Blipbug.

>> Grookey's Grassy Terrain is activated -- Grass-type moves are boosted >> Tangela uses Absorb on Aura @natefyre , I have no idea if this double battle format will work, . If you're not game to testing this out, let me know and I shall edit my post. Friendly reminder as well that the lure has a one-time usage like the games.

Mod Kurt Double battle? Sounds exciting to me! Let's see what I can do! Status: Pumped To Nate's unexpected surprise, BOTH Pokemon wanted to battle. A double battle in fact! He had just enough room in his party currently to take these two if he wins this fight. Sadly though, one of them already attacked Aura and it did NOT expect that! The little Blipbug was startled awake and falls off Nate's head as a life sucking ball of energy is launched out of Tangela's vines and latches onto Aura sucking some of its life force. The bug Pokemon wiggled around on the ground a bit filled with shock from the sudden assault and then manages to get to its feet and looks around at the culprit and eyes the Tangela as it shows a little mischief in its eyes which gave it away as the attacker. Aura grunts and without Nate saying a single word, decides to fight right back! "Aura are you sure? It seems a bit stronger than you." Nate knew checking in with Aura at any capacity wouldn't do him any good, since it still didn't care much to listen to him yet. And before even issuing any further command, Aura out of rage and automatic retaliation attacked the Tangela with a Struggle Bug! It was a grass type, so luckily the Absorb move didn't do much damage, however, the strange terrain around it made it do more damage than it normally would, and it was enough to get Aura riled up. At this point all the little bug cared about was revenge on the one who interrupted it's nap. This moment triggered the memory of Nate disrupting its rest in its tree back on Route 1 and this didn't make its attitude much better. Enough was enough. The move hits with great success and a super effectiveness on the Tangela. Aura flailed wildly in a glowing green aura launching itself at the Tangela enraged, she strikes the female Tangela with a great might. Afterwards, despite already being pretty exhausted, she continues the pummeling to the point of exhausting itself and would not stop attacking the Tangela in a bitter fit. The Tangela was on the ground writhing in a pain level equivalent to a nasty sting. Nate was even surprised his Pokemon was able to get it to the ground with its size, but it seemed to do it. With its continuing efforts of struggling against Tangela, Aura continues attacking and flailing about on it on the ground but doing nothing else damage wise except annoy the vine Pokemon after the first part of the attack did its due diligence having no other effect once the Pokemon's energy was exhausted at the moment. Tangela then manages to shove the Blipbug off and shakes its lengthly vines releasing a network of spores from within its growth wisping these nasty spores towards Aura using Stun Spore, in which Aura was easily caught up in its strange pollen and suddenly goes limp in place with green sparks shooting all around it. Nate gasps.
AuraHP (70%):
( PARALYZED) | female | compound eyes Level: 4 Hold Item: None Struggle Bug | ---- | ----| ---- | ---- | ----
TangelaHP (60%): | female | regenerator
Level: 5 Hold Item: None
Absorb | Bind | Stun Spore | ---- | ---- | ---- | grookeyHP (100%): | male | grassy surge
Level: 9 Hold Item: None
Scratch | Growl | Branch Poke | Taunt | ---- | ---- |
>> Grookey's Grassy Terrain is activated -- Grass-type moves are boosted
>> Tangela uses Absorb on Aura >> Aura uses Struggle Bug on Tangela >> Tangela uses Stun Spore on Aura >> Aura is Paralyzed >>Aura is returned. >>Grookey is standing by to attack next when Pokemon are switched out.
"Oh no! Poor Aura you've been paralyzed!" Nate makes a judgment call whether it liked it or not. "Aura, you need to rest. We are in over our heads little lady! That Grookey will finish you off if you keep up the reckless method. I care about you, please know that. RETURN!" Nate takes out Aura's Poke Ball and returns the Blipbug before The Grookey joins in on Tangela's offense. Nate then takes out Phantom's Poke' Ball, as well as Shadow's, and sends them both out for the battle. However, Nate's panic was indeed having the opposite effect on Grookey as he thought. Instead it was giggling and entertained by the excitement of battle. Not annoyed or frustrated. It seems the Grookey was along for the ride, as it were. The Tangela however seemed to start having second thoughts, and was growing a bit tired of this battle. Nate could tell by its posturing that it was starting to prep to go back in the bushes and vanish out of sight. Nate keeps convincing the two Wild Pokemon to stick around and see what else is in store."We are strong, I promise you. And hey, thanks you two for giving us such a run for our money! This is a fantastic battle! Now, let's rev this up a notch. Shadow, Phantom, lets keep it going!" The Poke' Balls finished materializing the two Pokemon and they both went into a battle ready stance eyeing eachother with a smile, then nodding to Nate, and gluing their eyes back at their opponents with a snicker. Grookey was next for the battle, it let out a boisterous cheer as Nate suggested it do earlier before the battle, and then it quickly turned devilish as it turned around and shook its booty at Phantom using Taunt! Nate sighed. "So much for trying the Sand Attack method of lowering accuracy!" Phantom became enraged and hissed at the Grookey showing its claws . The Grookey then uses its twig in its hands and thrusts it at Phantom with a mighty lunge performing a Branch Poke to its chest. Phantom falls on his bottom with a heave gripping its chest after the branch left a nasty mark on its pectorals.
"Phantom are you ok?!?" Phantom gives a low sounding meow and gets back to his feet. It was quite a blow but he survives and gives Nate a slow nod still fixated on Grookey to exact its revenge. "Way to hang in there!" Shadow was now ready to strike as Nate chimes in. "Shadow! Before Tangela can attack again why don't you use Ominous Wind on it! And then Screech on the Grookey to give Phantom some backup!" Shadow gives a sneer and spins itself rapidly around in circles creating a ghoulish gust and then flinging the spooky gales at Tangela. The vine ridden Pokemon is caught up in some Ominous Wind and barrels back some feet away from its precious bush and was really feeling that blow. It ate the ground and rested there a spell. Afterwards Shadow lets out large rings of sound from its maw and aims the Screech at the Grookey causing it to crouch down protecting its dome as the piercing sound envelopes it. Phantom was going to attack next as it looked at Nate eager to get some payback on the monkey. Nate had a plan to make this battle a bit easier on his team and didn't take another chance waiting around for Tangela to be nearly defeated, and removes a vacant Poke' Ball from his belt. He tosses it at the injured Tangela. As it wiggled, Nate doesn't hesitate to keep going on this adrenaline. Afterwards, Nate spends the rest of the instant to guide Phantom on at least one attack. "Phantom, use Scratch on that Grookey! Since it wants you to stay on the offense, so be it. Use your tail to give yourself more spring and impact!" Phantom lets out a righteous growl and springs back on its hind legs and long pointy tail, and then uses that momentum to launch itself at the Grookey with picked up speed, and Scratches at the monkey across its cheek. With the reduced defense Grookey quakes feeling the aftermath of those sharp claws on its smooth skin. TangelaHP (21%): | female | regenerator

Nate was too focused on the Grookey at the moment as were Shadow and Phantom to be worried about whether or not Tangela was captured or if it escaped. He would have to focus back on that creature when Grookey is dealt with. Grookey remains still strong and well after Phantom's creative scratch attack, and responds by letting out a ferocious chimp Growl. Which sounded more cute than anything else, but it release the growl to Phantom as brisk waves of sound pound into its ears and they slightly twitch. Phantom shakes its head a few times, but mostly he remains brave in this battle despite the monkey being stronger than him. Next, Grookey thrusts his twig at Shadow at a quick pace and tries stabbing him in his right eye with another Branch Poke. Shadow however, was observant of the monkey's movements against Phantom earlier and was able to sashay to the side barely avoiding a nasty poke in the eye as it dodges. It grinned a sinister grin proud of itself that it caught on to its attack pattern. Grookey sticks out his tongue at Shadow unimpressed by his analytics while also still having more fun in this battle rather than seriousness. Shadow plays along and razzberry's the Grookey right back with a wink. Nate chuckles. "My, I think you two will become fast friends when this is over!" Shadow says nothing and playfully levitates awaiting the chimp's next move. Nate looks down at Phantom. "Now as for you, I can't be so sure!" Phantom gives the Grookey a smug look and remains firm and stalwart in its dislike to it at the moment during this heated exchange. "Ok Shadow, give it an Ominous Wind attack! Then, Phantom, use Scratch on it! Show it a team effort and prove our worth to it!" Shadow gives a shout and twirls again in circles creating a vicious Ominous wind and slings it at the Grookey sending it blowing backwards however it remained on its feet trying to block the brunt of the wind with its elbows and stick. Next, Phantom gives a quick hiss and dashes at the Grookey giving its other cheek a Scratch so it matches its previous strike. The maneuver was weaker than before due to the Grookey's nasty growl, but it still hits. The Ominous Wind however, doing the most damage. The chimp was caught aloof and ends up slumping to its knees from both attacks afterwards. Not taking anything else to chance, Nate takes out another vacant Poke' Ball and snaps it to the Grookey just moments after it falls to its knees to capture it. Now Nate just had to confirm the verdict for both Pokemon to see if his mettle was tested enough and they find him quite the capable trainer of harnessing their power. Shadow and Phantom stay watching and fixed upon the two Poke Balls on the ground before them to see the result of their efforts. The tension could be cut with a knife. Tired and perhaps satisfied with the battle, Tangela's Pokeball rested still long before Grookey's.
Congratulations, Tangela was caught!

The Grookey's Pokeball shook a few moments, perhaps the Pokemon not wanting the battle to be over just yet. While it was a valiant effort, in time, it too went still.
Congratulations! Grookey was caught!

@natefyre , #LetAuraNap. Aura gains 3 exp. points! Phantom gains 5 exp. points! Phantom levels up and learns Fake Out! Shadow gains 8 exp. points! Shadow levels up and learns Night Shade! (Just so you understand my math, rounding up, I gave Aura and Shadow half of Tangela's level in exp. points, Phantom and Shadow gained half of Grookey's level in exp. points, and then I added Shadow's together.)

Mod Kurt Went better than expected! Thanks! Now for the Pancham haha Status: Satisfied After a rather heated back and forth in Nate's very first double battle experience, he was quite impressed with himself and very proud of his team. He gave a righteous grin at the efforts of his whole group and knelt down to pick up the two Poke' Balls with the newly captured Pokemon and looked at both Shadow and Phantom with deep gratitude. "You both fought valiantly. Thank you both so much. Your hard work is not in vein. It's so appreciated." He gives Phantom a chin rub with one finger and gently pets his head as the cat struts around Nate's hand ensuring he gives him a full body scratch going the extra mile on the love after a hard fought battle. Nate chuckles. "Good job Phantom, you're amazing." The cat Pokemon starts purring and gives Nate's right index finger a small few licks then rolls over on its back with its tongue sticking out in bliss from the affection. After a few more belly scratches Nate spends time showing Shadow his love as he opens his arms and gives the Pokemon that followed him all the way from their home origins of the Hoenn lands a giant hug. Shadow melts in his arms at this gesture happy to have followed the Trainer it played in the mountains with so long ago, here to the Ascua Region. He then waves over to Phantom to get him in on the action too. And he gladly obliges the embrace with Shadow. Taking precaution not to suffocate his Pokemon with a hug, Nate takes their Poke' Balls from his pocket in each hand, and returns them back into their respective miniature scapes. Next, he sends out Aura and stares at the little bug with great care, still kneeling to ensure he remained on the level of his partner. Aura remained shaken up and in pain with surges of numbness coursing through its body. Nate takes a Cheri Berry from his jacket, the only berry he had right for the job, and gently rested his hand with the berry under Aura's mouth. It stayed still and looked at him uncertain. Nate gives a nod. "Go on. It's ok. You fought incredibly well and I appreciate you. Take it, it will help. Please?" Aura remains hesitant a moment, then without taking its eyes off Nate, it slowly arches its head down and nibbles up the berry. Within seconds the effect of its paralysis wears off. Color returns to its skin and it smiles at Nate in thanks. Nate returns the gesture and it seemed to earn him a small cuddle. Aura wiggle over to Nate's foot and snuggles its head against his ankle appreciating the effort he was giving to try and make amends despite it not listening to Nate's commands earlier. Afterwards Aura gave out a cute pint sized yawn ready to nap again and this time; Nate would let it. "Come on back now, rest." Nate returns the drowsy Aura to its Poke Ball and talks to it within its concealed state. "Thank you again....little Aura." After thanking his whole team, it was time to introduce himself to the Tangela and Grookey a bit more. "GO! Tangela, GO, GROOKEY!" The two grass type Pokemon came out of their Poke' Balls and looked at Nate, then at each other, taking a moment to realize they have been captured and now have a new life to live with a Trainer, then, after a few seconds of confusion, they adorably walk over to Nate's feet and sit on each foot staring up at him, watching and waiting complacently to what he'd like to express to them. "Thank you for allowing me this opportunity to share an exciting new life with you two. I can't wait to see how strong you both get with us and how great of a friendship we can make together. You...tough yet calm mannered bundle of fun..." Nate points to the Tangela with eagerness. "I'm going to name you Nyx. Which means goddess of night, since you liked hiding in that bush and being in the dark so much." Tangela now known as, Nyx, lit up and gasped in amazement at the name very much enjoying it. "And you..." Nate motions to the Grookey. "Your name will be Tatanka. Named after a great Indian Chief known by their bravery in battle." The Grookey jumps for joy at the nickname completely overtaken by the name. "Glad you all like it. Those will be your names going forward. Speaking of, we should keep going now. But first...."Nate takes out two Oran Berries; one in each palm, and requests them to eat them. "Why don't you each eat one and heal up a bit, no? That was a tough encounter and you both gave it your all." Without needing to ask twice, the two Pokemon, clearly very hungry, both swiped a berry each out of his hands and ate them. Tangela quickly snapping its vine to the berry and scarfing it down, Grookey happily munching away at it as the food helped them recover from the battle prior. Nate was glad to see them eat. "There we are. Feel better? I am excited to see where we all go from here!" The two gave a cheer and began to dance around their new trainer happy to know they had one that cared about their well being. "Ok you two ok, come on back now, I have a bit more exploring to do here!" He took their Poke' Balls from his belt and returned them to their respective devices. He then sends out Ruby who has yet to get any action today and got immediate affection from her going right to pouncing in his arms and licking his face. "I know I know, you haven't been out much today. But that's just fine, because I'm not done here yet! Whatdya say we find ourselves a Pancham, hmm?" Nate gives Ruby an enthusiastic smirk and she yips excitedly ready to assist. Just then however....Nate remembered the object that was glaring on the ground before and looks down still believing to see it in the distance. He walks over to it and tries to pick it up. Ruby stares at it curiously. "This could prove useful. And what about...that deer Pokemon I saw earlier...it's probably long gone by now..." He remembers the majestic creature he saw grazing around here not long ago. But he wasn't going to worry about that right now. He didn't think he had any Pokemon strong enough yet to take that mystery beast on. But he does know he isn't leaving the woods until he got what he came for; A Pancham! And that would be the final addition to round out his team for a good while. "Wherever it went girl, we won't worry about it right now. Keep your nose and eyes on alert for a little panda looking Pokemon with a knack for battle. Knowing how feisty that type of Pokemon can be, we may get attacked first. We'll find out! Let's keep going forward through this glen for now until we come across it. Then we can head back when we've caught one!" Ruby gives a determined 'woof' and wags its tail following Nate to continue their mission. ___________________________________________ (Shadow) -Lvl. 07 - Knock Off, Screech, Ominous Wind, Night Shade - IC Happiness 5/5(Ruby) -Lvl. 04 - Tackle, Howl, - IC Happiness 5/5(Phantom) -Lvl. 05 - Scratch, Growl, Sand Attack, Fake Out, - IC Happiness 5/5(Aura) -Lvl. 04 -Struggle Bug, - IC Happiness 4/5(Nix) -Lvl. 05 - Absorb, Bind, Stun Spore, - IC Happiness 1/5(Tatanka) -Lvl. 09 - Scratch, Growl, Branch Poke, Taunt,- IC Happiness 1/5
