It's dangerous to go alone! Take this...!
What? Wrong series? No matter.
Wild Modded Threads So, you want to go out into the wild, eh? Got a Pokemon at your side, a handful of pokeballs, and wide-eyed enthusiasm? This guidebook is here to tell you how the wild modded threads -- the threads in the routes where, you know, all the wild Pokemon roam -- will go down.
The main premise of a wild modded thread is for your character to encounter wild Pokemon to potentially add to their team. The secondary premise is to play up and create story elements.
Since the site includes all eight generations of Pokemon, there is a plethora of wild Pokemon available on each route, with the majority of wild Pokemon threads having Common, Uncommon, and Rare species of Pokemon. The Pokemon you encounter are entirely up to the roll of the dice.
As the person controlling the character, you will start the thread off with a lovely introduction of said character and perhaps their thoughts on the weather, what Pokemon they hope to see, and possibly what their partner Pokemon is doing if applicable. Give the mods as many details as you'd like and we'll do our best to play off of them as much as we can when we respond.
When the mod does respond, their post will be written in narration, describing the scenery enough to include three randomly generated Pokemon. Similar to the Let's Go duo and Sword and Shield video games, the mods are aiming for the character to "see" the wild Pokemon and choose which ones to engage. This will give members more options of wild Pokemon to choose to battle and try to capture rather than spotting them one by one in threads that may drag too long.
Of course, characters can opt to ignore or run by the wild Pokemon. Or investigate the shiny berry tree that the mod had also generated in their original post. Or spy a small path that the mod had briefly mentioned and take a detour to see what else the area has to offer. Those are all valid options as well.
Whatever action the character chooses to take, the mods will respond accordingly. If the character wishes to engage with a wild Pokemon, the character's action will determine how the mod makes the wild Pokemon behave.
Did the character's Pokemon decide to try to attack first? Did the character try to talk to the wild Pokemon, to coax it closer? Did the character try to chuck a twig at the wild Pokemon to knock it out of a tree? The mod will respond accordingly.
If the mod's response begins a wild Pokemon battle, the mod will post the wild Pokemon's battle stats and the member is granted the ability to take control of the wild Pokemon in order to post the battle. Instead of the mod and member going back and forth trading blows, the member will post the story of the battle and may use the damage calculator to help gauge how well the Pokemon do against each other. The battle will end if the wild Pokemon faints or the character is out of usable Pokemon.
The character may also attempt to capture the wild Pokemon at any time during the battle, and the mod will respond as to whether it succeeded. If the attempt is successful, including the Pokemon's full stats so the member may add the Pokemon to their character's profile thread. If the attempt was unsuccessful, the battle may continue.
After the wild Pokemon battle, the thread will continue with the member and mod trading similar posts.
A mod will most likely roll a maximum of 12 wild Pokemon throughout the course of the thread before it ends. If the member wishes for a shorter wild thread, that is fine as well. If the story elements persist past that, then the mod will happily continue the thread with the member until it comes to a natural end.
As this is a guide rather than ironclad rules, please let us know if there are any questions or clarifications needed on this by either PMing Mod Kris and Mod Kurt, or by posting in the Mod Informer board.
