(trans) male | 19 | bisexual | rancher | Minawa Yukito, Pygmalion of Overlapping Shadows
Home Region/PC Location: Sinnoh; Spectrum Fields
Description:
For having been born in a female body, Nitrine stands at a fairly tall 5’9”. As a result of a few years on T, he has neither much body fat nor much muscle, so he is rather lanky and almost all limbs, without exactly being bony. His skin is a pale tan color, and his short hair is so platinum blonde that it’s nearly white. He likes to keep the tips dyed black, including on his bangs (not shown in face claim). He’s got a soft, effeminate baby-face and round, chocolate-brown eyes. His left eye has a baby-blue splotch in the corner. He likes to shave off his facial hair, although sometimes some stubble pops up. He has small hands, large-ish feet, and a nice butt.
His breasts shrank a cup size, but even with a binder it looks like he has a small pair—he is trying to exercise more to hopefully make then even smaller. (On days he is too sore to wear his binder, he gets very self-conscious about them.)
He likes to wear nice clothes once he’s done with outdoor work, which usually consists of tank tops and open flannel shirts with jeans, or sometimes polo shirts with slacks. He likes dark reds, medium blues, and plaid things. For the outdoors, he wears any T-shirt which he doesn’t care gets dirty. Some of them have text printed on them while others are plain and solid-colored.
Personality:
Nitrine wishes to enjoy life and takes pleasure in even small blessings. He is almost always in a good mood, which matches with his belief that everyone has a bit of good in them. Even still, he is given to experiencing strong feelings quite easily. On a bad day, he can be downright miserable; in the unlikely event he becomes angry, it comes out as a fiery burst of emotion (but it tends not to last long). He’s a frustration-crier.
Nitrine was taught that he needed to be able to work to uphold his desired lifestyle. That being said, he is prone to being lazy, especially now that he’s working on getting a place of his own for practically the first time. Still, he feels that honesty is the best policy and sees little need to lie to or hide much from others. He likes to live life spontaneously and often makes rash decisions without thinking very hard about the consequences or delving too deeply in all the possible outcomes.
Nitrine does not like to cause trouble, but if he feels he needs to defend something, he’ll defend it even if it means throwing a few punches. In general, this isn’t necessary; he has a warm affinity for others and believes everyone deserves respect. He loves to chat and gossip, though he has a tendency to jump to conclusions and so is not a good person to receive gossip from (as if gossip is ever a good thing). He’s open about much, but he doesn’t like talking about his life at home, except if it’s about his brother Lucent. Nitrine is a free-thinker who has a lot of love to spare. He hates being forced into doing things he doesn’t want to, but if you’re good to him, he’ll return the sentiment.
History:
Nitrine, born as Trina, was the second child of Roy Knight, an infamous loan shark by day and a strict father by night. Roy inflicted harsh punishments for his children and rarely offered praise for following his procedures on their short leashes. Trina and his brother Lucent often had to go to their mother for that. Their mother Nina was a free-spirit and was much more lenient with the kids. As a result, the couple often fought. During those times, Lucent was his only comfort. Only one year his senior, he got along well with Trina.
He had never felt like a “girl,” was not even sure what girls were supposed to feel like. Nina thought nothing of his aversion to feminine clothes and “girly” activities, since everyone has unique tastes. When this trend continued into Trina’s adolescence, Roy became concerned and confronted him. His father’s aggression intimidated him, and Trina defended himself by saying it was just what he liked, pretending nothing was out of the ordinary.
Nobody in school gave him any grief, though plenty thought he was weird. He had a few girl friends but preferred to play soccer with the boys at break times. When he was about fourteen, Trina confided in Lucent the truth: he wasn’t sure if being a girl was cut out for him. Lucent didn’t quite understand but accepted him nonetheless. He also obliged when Trina asked to be called Nitrine instead; their friends were just as confused but did the same.
At sixteen, short hair, Old Spice, and baggy clothes were normal wear for Nitrine. Roy, who had been divorced for a few years by this point, constantly made remarks about it, about how he “looked like a boy,” and how much he wished he could “have back the well-mannered, obedient daughter” that he raised. One evening, Nitrine couldn’t take it anymore, and he blurted out that he was a boy. A huge argument ensued, and at the end of it, Nitrine ended up leaving their home in the night to find a bench to sleep under.
Afterwards, Lucent managed to swipe some money from his father’s bank savings and pass it onto Nitrine, who used it to get a cheap apartment. Nitrine worked various odd jobs around Jubilife City to support himself, and just before he turned seventeen, he was able to afford his own hormone replacement therapy. Mood swings and awkward bodily changes wracked him, and he decided to secretly keep a Snubbull in his flat to comfort him. Within a few months of keeping her, his landlord found out and evicted him, so he moved to a more pet-friendly apartment in Hearthome City.
Jobs were harder to come by after the move, so Nitrine attempted to train his Snubbull to battle in order to earn money. He knew little about training and battling; it took quite some time before she could even advance her first 10 levels. Once she had, they were earning enough to survive and keep their home. It was around that time Nitrine heard of Gaia Island, and of the ranching business they had there. Thinking he might be able to survive in a job that involved raising Pokémon, he spent a year researching and saving up money to get there and begin.
Starting Position: So far Nitrine has only 1 Pokémon; I suppose that would make him Advanced?
Other:
» Nitrine has an aversion to Dark and Ghost-type Pokémon. Ghost-types are rumored to steal people's lives for fun, while many Dark-types are observed having nasty natural habits. His father also had an affinity for Dark-types and kept a Mightyena and a Sneasel to guard the house.
» Nitrine hasn’t legally changed his name yet, but if you talk to him, that’s how he introduces himself. His name was inspired by nitrogen ions, or nitrides. (They're even pronounced similarly.) He also thought it seemed like a good way of mashing his surname with his birthname.
» He still keeps in contact with his brother Lucent, who lives in Canalave City and works in the library there. He talks to his mother a lot less.
» Nitrine only really needs glasses to read; he can see fine without them otherwise.
My member name is Aeranautics, and Nitrine is currently my only human character.
