Nate didn't entirely know where to begin in the region to catch another Pokemon to add to his team, moreover, one Pokemon in specific, so he heard through the grapevine that this Route would have a good range of Pokemon to catch that could help him with his journey and goal to be Pokemon Champion if he looked hard enough. He also heard that the Pokemon known as Poochyena liked to lurk around here, which was a Pokemon Nate's father had once owned and helped grow to a powerful and loyal Mightyena that would often be protective of Nate and his family especially seeing how dangerous Mt. Pyre would be at times. Nate felt like that breed and type of Pokemon were tough to raise at first and very stubborn, but he knew how to properly care for it, and felt it would be a fine addition to his team if trained properly to grow into a dire asset.
Well, I won't send out Shadow yet to walk with me, because if I may recall, the Poochyena breed likes to harass unsuspecting and unwary prey, potentially someone that doesn't look like they have a Pokemon at all. I remember my father mentioning Professor Birch and his studies on the Poochyena, which kind of lead him to get one. Their toughness was a challenge to him, and he liked to prove others wrong about many things; including raising Pokemon. Nate smiles as he thinks to himself feeling the breath of his father around him as he would often excitedly and stoically go into his Pokemon rants or share stories about the different Pokemon and experiences he encountered at the Mt. Pyre mines during a work shift. Maybe that's why he was so good with Pokemon, everything fascinated him and nothing scared him. Nate wasn't much different. Poochyena may like to startle trainers like me walking by, even agitate them if they're hungry enough...hmm...so maybe if I could find a berry or food around here somewhere and whistle or call for a Pokemon, they may come out to feed. Nate began walking around the area more analytically now trying to scour for a berry or piece of food somewhere to use to attract the Poochyena. Once he found it, he would use it to lure one unless one happens to find him during the process, which he wouldn't be surprised about either since they were so common around here. ___________________________________________

@natefyre The path of Route 1 was surrounded by a thin wood, the trees of the area reaching a moderate height. Sunlight easily streamed down through the branches on a good day, and when the weather was cooperative many Pokemon could be heard rustling about. Despite the small route, nests were plentiful of young Pokemon that could take advantage of the Greenberry Town population, sneaking in for food or mischief before darting back to the safety of the woods.
As such, most Pokemon seemed to be curious about passersby. Case in point was a Sentret peeking over the tall grasses and shrubs off the side of the path, standing on its tail to get a better vantage point of the young man clad in red walking through. It swayed to one side, curious about the stranger, until the chattering of a Skwovet caught its attention.
Indeed, the Skwovet wasn't too far away, seemingly singing to itself as it perched on one of the low branches of a berry tree. The Pokemon didn't seem to care about the human wandering through -- it was too busy stuffing its cheeks with berries from the tree and seemed to be having a great time doing so. Not even the presence of a Wooloo rolling by and tapping against the berry tree slowed the Skwovet down.
The Wooloo shook itself after hitting the berry tree and glared at it as if the tree was the offender. Moving along, the Wooloo glanced over at Nate, paused a moment as if to gauge whether or not Nate was a threat, and decided to keep rolling on. Oddly enough, the Wooloo appeared to be nudging something else along as it rolled... but it was difficult to make out at this distance.

Status: Curious
With his new adventure just beginning, the fresh sights and sounds of Route 1 had filled his veins with absolute adrenaline and a wanderlust he thought he may never feel again since being a kid and going out on his excursions along Mt. Pyre. He noticed immediate local critters and Pokemon of all different kinds occupying this great forested plain upon his berry search. A Sentret peering over the brush at Nate with a curiosity in its eyes, then turning its attention to a hungry Skwovet which seemed to have claimed a Berry Tree as its own food source presently. Then a Wooloo rolling into the scene and nudging the berry tree with its bumbling motion that the Skwovet rested in. This didn't seem to bother the Skwovet though thankfully as it continued stuffing its face with the horde of berries it had possessed.
Upon a closer look with the endorphins running through Nate's body staying alert in the wild like this, he noticed as the Wooloo went by it possibly nudged something else perhaps accidentally perhaps not. To get a better look, Nate walks to the figure of something the Wooloo bumped into that appeared hard to identify from the distance the Trainer was at at a brisk pace; not too fast to startle any Pokemon nearby, and not too slow to have anything get an upper hand on Nate and try to spook him. Before Nate takes any more risks getting as close he was to a potential threat or agitated Pokemon, or perhaps even a Pokemon that may be used to humans, Nate plays it safe and slyly drops the Poke'Ball his Shuppet was in by slowly unlatching his belt and the ball dropping to the ground and releasing Shadow right behind him.
Shadow, not knowing it was supposed to be a quiet moment goes right to snuggling Nate and giggling in happiness to be out with its Trainer again. "Shupp...Et!" Nate puts a finger to his mouth and calmly quiets his Pokemon causing it to go into a silent whimper in his Trainer's arms. Nate hopes this sudden outburst didn't alert anything and whispers to Shuppet; "Quiet buddy. I'm trying to track us another teammate." Shadow nods shushing itself and being cautious. "But hey, you see those berries over there scattered around the tree?" Nate points to the tree where the Skwovet was hanging out at and directs his Shuppet to go there. Shuppet shoots a glare at the tree and nods.
"Since you're naturally the sneaky type. I need you to try and go incognito over to that tree and fetch me a few berries for the Pokemon I am trying to track. I've seen you disappear before back at Mt. Pyre playing those tricks you love to do on me. Think of it like that. Be sneaky. And Don't let anything catch you. Got it?" Since Ghost Pokemon were naturally the sneaky and silent type, Nate had faith that his Shuppet could do as he asks and not annoy the Skwovet while it was having its meal over at the Berry Tree.
Shadow nods again and starts to try and fade itself into the shadow of the trees and vanish into nature. However, due to the bright sunlight it may be kind of hard to sneak around for long. Ghosts were not giant fans of the sun. As Shadow went to fetch the berries, in order to promote a sentiment of peace, Nate kneels down to his knees and waits by the mysterious figure the Wooloo may have nudged. Nate left the other Pokemon he spotted alone, and wondered if this current encounter would lead to the Poochyena he was trying to find. ___________________________________________

@natefyre, please let me know if using Shadow as I have is alright. If not, send me a PM and I'll modify this. As Nate went to inspect what the Wooloo had been nudging, the Pokemon stopped and stared up at him. It was difficult to tell what the Wooloo was thinking -- was it merely standing by its found treasure in defiance or curiosity of the human's presence? It kept its gaze on Nate even as he released his Shuppet and kneeled down, the balm mushroom still by the Wooloo's feet. The Wooloo seemed content to wait out the human, to see what move Nate would make next, with its treasure. The Wooloo didn't seem particularly aggressive at this time.
While the Wooloo stared at Nate, Shadow the Shuppet went to investigate the berry tree on his trainer's behalf. Shadow's typing helped it flicker in and out of the shadows among the trees and shrubs of the route until he got closer to the Skwovet's snack stash. For a moment, it seemed that the Skwovet didn't notice the Shuppet in its proximity. Yet, there was an instant where the Skwovet turned just as Shadow flickered into view and the startled Skwovet retaliated by chucking an oran berry at Shadow.
Seeing as Shadow is a Ghost-type, the berry sailed through the Shuppet and bounced upon the ground before rolling by a shrub.
The small commotion -- helped along with the Skwovet chattering angrily as it scolded Shadow -- made a Patrat appear from behind the shrub. It sniffed at the berry, apparently trying to decide what to do with it.

Upon a closer look at the thing Wooloo was dragging along Nate noticed it was a mushroom. He thought he had seen that kind of vegetation before somewhere, perhaps in a book, and remembered that vendors do like to pay pretty pennies for them. However, the Wooloo seemed more interested in it than Nate would have been and he didn't want to upset it, so he simply spoke to it in a calm tone and waves hello. "Hello little friend, you're welcome to keep that you know. I thought you had a Pokemon attached to you for a second. Guess it was just a mushroom. All yours if you'd like?" Nate wasn't sure if the Wooloo was starting to get a general interest in him or not, or just wanted to make sure its mushroom was ok, so Nate would leave it at that for now.
As Nate was interacting with the Wooloo, he had heard the Skwovet at the berry tree make a fuss and saw it chuck a berry at Shadow which then rolled along the brush and attracted a Patrat. Nate left the Wooloo be for now and slowly crawled towards the Patrat trying not to startle it. He then directs his Shuppet to come back to him with a motion of his finger. Shadow follows Nate's direction and drifts away from the Patrat and back by Nate's side on alert watching what the Patrat would do along with how its Trainer would handle this situation. In a calm voice, Nate speaks to the Patrat. "Hey little one, I see you are looking at the Oran Berry my friend Shadow here was trying to pick up. Sorry it rolled your way and scared you. If you don't mind, we'd love to have it. Perhaps in exchange for a tummy rub?" Nate then gestures to Shuppet to rollover on its belly and Nate begins to scratch Shadow's tummy in which it giggled in response demonstrating this for the Patrat in case it wanted the same attention.
Then after a few seconds, put his hands out in front of him gesturing the Patrat to come over to him and see if it would like some love as well. If Nate could avoid a battle with it, he would, but if he had to, he also understood. But he needed that berry one way or another, and he was either going to get it peacefully, or battle for it. Or the desperation option was to agitate the Skwovet even more at the tree and try to get a berry from that source. Either way, Nate was on thin ice in this situation and his choices were limited. He waited to see what the Patrat would do as the Wooloo and Skwovet were left alone for now with him focusing all his attention on that Oran Berry and Shadow playing along with the tactic for now, watching intently. ___________________________________________ (Shadow)-Lvl. 05 - Knock Off, Screech, Ominous Wind - IC Happiness 3/5

@natefyre The Wooloo, seemingly satisfied with the human's response, deftly picked up its treasure and rolled away (albeit, a bit awkwardly due to holding the mushroom).
The Skwovet's chattering fizzled out into a disappointed sigh at the loss of a berry before its ears perked up and the Pokemon directed its attention to one of the bushes that was to the right of Nate and the Patrat he was trying to coax. Whatever the Skwovet sensed made it climb higher up the berry tree and disappear within its leaves. The Patrat was confused at Nate's words, wondering what the heck the human and the Shuppet were doing, before its attention was also momentarily grabbed at whatever was shaking the bushes.
A hiss was the only warning that was given before a Yungoos burst out from the shrubbery and Tackled the Patrat off the side of the path. The oran berry was jostled and began rolling again at the commotion, away from both the feuding Pokemon and Nate.
As the two wild Pokemon tousled, the rolling oran berry was stopped just short of going off the path by a small snout gingerly picking it up. The Poochyena's eyes were wide as it darted between the Yungoos and Patrat and Nate and his Shuppet, taking a few seconds to decide on the best course of action.

Mod Kris , I would say if the Poochyena is younger/lower leveled, I think the Shuppet would win the tugofwar if it decides to engage, but if it is an older Pokemon, and decides to engage, with some experience under its belt, it would win the little game. Ultimately I don't mind letting you decide that outcome. If it decides not to engage in that, then it will need to be a battle because Nate wouldn't let it escape.

Nate and Shadow immediately flinched upon seeing the Patrat suddenly get bamboozled by a nearby Yungoos causing both of them to tumble into the brush just off the path in which Nate and Shadow let be as the two Wild Pokemon sorted out their differences on their own. Following that affair, the berry rolls away from the tussling Pokemon and almost to another patch of Brush until it stopped short and then, there it was. The Pokemon Nate was truly looking for. He saw a black nose stick out and poke at the berry and then the body of the Poochyena showing itself and its extreme interest in the berry. It stops moving and sniffing around for a moment, deciding what to do with the berry. This was Nate's chance to add to his team. He didn't want to screw this up. This was the Pokemon he was here to find.
He knew this addition would be a great challenge for him to raise and care for, due to its toughness and stamina, but overall, it would be worth it in the end when time goes on, they prove to be the fiercest and most loyal companions, especially in their evolved forms. Nate tries the peaceful route first, being the caring Trainer he is, to see what this particular Poochyena would do. Though its kind typically likes to start fights more than make peaceful decisions, Nate has to at least give his tactic a shot. If Shadow had to fight it to join his team, then Nate would go that route if he had to, but for now, he was giving the Pokemon a choice.
Nate goes from his knees to his butt, and tries to get the Pokemon to come to him. It already had what it wanted, which was likely some grub, being the berry. But perhaps it wanted a friend, as well. Or a chance at a different life. Nate was going to see what he could do. Ever the creative type, Nate waves hello to the Poochyena harboring a smile, and then slowly takes off one of his gloves from his clothing and waves it. He knew canine types typically liked playing a game of Tug-Of-War or simply to have something to bite, so, he got his Shuppet once again to demonstrate something fun for a wild Pokemon like Poochyena to engage in. Nate whispers to Shadow. "Ok, same deal as before buddy, bite into this glove and pretend we are playing a game with it. I pull you pull. Ok?" Shuppet nods and floats to the other end of the glove and the two playfully tug back and forth with it being careful not to break it. Shuppet expresses joy along with Nate as they do this, showing Poochyena it's fun.
They stop after a minute of this, and Nate pretends to let Shadow win the game with the glove now dangling from its mouth. Nate afterwards gestures to the Poochyena, then gestures to Shadow. Nate then addresses the Poochyena. "Say, you really like that berry don't you? Well, we will have tons more for you if you'd like to come with us on our journey? I'm sure it's not always fun scrounging around for food out here with all these other Pokemon trying to horde the grub for themselves right? I tell ya what, if you beat my Shuppet here in a game of tug of war with that glove, I'll get more berries out of that berry tree over there for you and deal with that nasty Skwovet if I have to. But if Shadow wins, you automatically have to join our team but you'll still get berries later. Deal?" Either way it was a win win for the little pooch. It would ultimately lose its freedom if it lost the toy game, but, Nate would ensure it enjoyed its time with him whether it knew it or not. And if it chose neither option, then a battle would be the only outcome here. Nate was unsure how old or young this Poochyena was, and how well it comprehended human interaction, but he was going to find out. Meanwhile, Shadow begins playfully rolling back and forth in midair with the glove in its mouth as it waits for the Poochyena to make its choice. ___________________________________________

@natefyre, the dice chose a battle, as I presume Nate would give chase to the Poochyena if it darted off. Friendly reminder that you are allowed to post the entirety of the battle in your next post, as per the Battle & Moves thread, unless you wish for me to RP the battle with you as the Poochyena. The Poochyena tilted its head to the side as the human began speaking to it. The wild Pokemon was wary and began to take a step backwards. It had the berry in its mouth and the human showed teeth, an aggressive look according to the Poochyena's world. It showed teeth back in a growl, although it probably didn't look as intimidating with the oran berry dangling from its mouth. Then the human mentioned having more berries and then getting more berries from the tree, and the Poochyena's head tilted to the other side as it tried to figure out what the heck the human was doing with the Shuppet. Why were they fighting over something that wasn't food? The Poochyena's gaze darted from the Shuppet dancing in the air with the glove to the human, wondering why the human thought a scrap of cloth would be worth its freedom. The Poochyena took another step back from the human and Shuppet, seemingly ready to make a break for it. It was more than a little wary of what was going on. It didn't appear that the glove tactic worked at all to entice the wild Pokemon. Additionally, it may have agitated the Pokemon even more, who now looks like it wants to run away. Nate gives up the act and gets serious. "Shadow, looks like its alot smarter than we thought. And a Pokemon with a vigor and intensity like this little Poochyena, makes for excellent growth opportunities through training later. Let's give it a chance to really show its fangs! Poochyena, don't run away, show us what you got!" Nate takes the glove from Shadow's mouth and tightens it around his hand again then makes a fist exuding a battle ready energy and stance. "Shadow, we gotta show it that we are plenty strong and there's nothin better than growing and toughening up with us!" Shadow swirls around Nate feeding off of his sudden burst of amped up energy and also begins getting pumped for battle itself and floats over to in front of the Poochyena. It is still in quite the playful mood as it gets ready for a fight with the little dog Pokemon and humorously rolls to the left and right in the air waiting for its Trainer's next command and/or the Poochyena to make a move. Nate makes the call and commands his Shuppet to strike first. "Ok Shadow, don't let it escape. We don't want to hurt it too bad ok? Let's dish it a dark type attack since it is a Dark Type after all! And we'll do it twice! To weaken it just enough." The Poochyena starts backing away more quickly and tried to turn around to bolt with its berry, but it was not fast enough! Shadow moves forward with the move and goes right for the Poochyena thrusting itself at the creature at a quick speed slamming the butt of its sheet like skin into the Poochyena knocking into it like a bumper car, then rolling backwards catching a drift of the wind, and slamming into it again with a swipe of its sheet. The combo of attacks and their effects knock away items automatically which caused the pooch's oran berry to fall out of its mouth. Moreover, the impact made it tumble several feet backwards scuffing it up a bit and tattering its fur. The Pokemon was able to withstand it well enough, but it still left quite a good mark. With a last resort mentality of fighting back, the Poochyena rushes at the Shuppet with a Tackle, however it goes right through Shadow due to its ghost like body, the move did nothing. With an anxious sweat, Poochyena growls, barrels back to Shadow after missing, and tries to Tackle again. Once more it flings itself at Shadow and goes right through it. This causes it to trip over itself a bit upon the second attempt at attacking but still it managed to find balance and stand firm into the ground. It remains standing looking intensely at Shadow and Nate and starts trembling, it seemed to be quite scared and unsure if it could keep fighting. Shadow just curiously gazes back at the Pokemon floating carelessly with intrigue along the air wondering to itself why the battle is already nearly over. Perhaps it wasn't as strong as Nate and itself, thought. Nate contemplates what he should do next. "Now now Shadow, don't give it such a questionable look. I think that's enough for now. Poochyena, you sure are tough!" Shadow looks confused upon Nate's remark as if disagreeing with his notion of it being tough. But Nate remained set on his word. "Any Pokemon can grow to be strong; and you Poochyena have the right foundation to make an amazing partner for our team. Don't be afraid little one, join the team and let me help you grow! POKE' BALL! GO!" Nate takes out one of his Poke' Balls and chucks it at the trembling Poochyena who continued to be shaking in place at Nate's words unsure what to think as the Poke' Ball consumes it. As it started to wobble and the Pokemon decided on its decision, Nate addresses Shadow. "Keep in mind my friend, you were once a young Pokemon just starting out like this Poochyena, we have to appreciate its efforts no matter what right? Positivity promotes good growth!" Shadow nods with a smile, agreeing that his trainer has an amazing point. Now they wait for the Poke' Ball to do its thing. Shadow(Shuppet)HP(100%): Ghost | Male | Insomnia

@natefyre, congrats! Don't forget to add your new Pokemon to your accepted bio thread! The pokeball shook only twice before going still, the captured Poochyena too tired from fighting.
The oran berry that had been knocked away from the Poochyena was still on the ground, a bit dusty but still perfectly edible for a Pokemon. Nate or Shadow may want to grab it before another Pokemon comes along and takes it if they want it.
The commotion from the battle seemed to have startled some of the wild Pokemon away from Nate and his Shuppet. A Zigzagoon did poke its head out from underneath a bush to stare at Nate curiously, while a Rattata burst out from behind a nearby tree to dash further down the pathway and heading towards the Greenberry Woods.

Mod Kris Nate heals his Poochyena and engages the Rattata. Let's see if it hits or it gets away? Status: ThankfulAs the Poke' Ball finishes its wobbling around after a short time, Nate walks over and picks it up with Shadow trailing behind him with a joyous jaunt. Nate looks deeply into the Poke' Ball and holds it in his hand with his mind racing to the future. He whispers to it. "I'm going to make you stronger. That's my promise to you, Ruby the Poochyena. That's your new name. Because you're a gem, and I want to take good care of you. Starting now." Nate tosses the Poke' Ball lightly into the air and out comes the Poochyena, shaken and scared even still. Nate bends down and takes a Potion out of his jacket pocket. "It's ok young pupper, this will fix you up." He sprays the pup with it and its fur goes back to a natural smooth finish and the scuffs on it vanish.
It gives itself a good shake flinging off any excess dirt and loose hairs from its previous battle with Shadow and sits wagging its tail looking longingly at Nate. It seemed like it didn't mind being his Pokemon so much after all. Shadow then levitates down next to it and nuzzles its cheek in a friendly rub. Ruby yips nuzzling it back and then running circles around Shadow. Nate chuckles. "Whatdya say we stay here a bit longer and do some training? That way you're not so scared of battling so much yeah?" Nate comments to Ruby who suddenly stops running around and stands still a bit coldly with a stiffness to her. "I can tell you're not used to battling, or probably even like it very much. But trust me, I wouldn't push you farther with it than you're comfortable to handle. But it WILL make you stronger and I know you'd certainly wouldn't mind that right?" Ruby hesitates a moment, then responds with an upbeat bark wagging its tail again. Trusting in Nate to give it more growth. "Wonderful! Well, let's first start by getting that Oran Berry on the ground you loved so much over there. Let's keep it on you as we train here in case you need it ok?" Ruby yaps back at Nate agreeing and rushes over to the Oran Berry before any other Pokemon nearby get it and puts it in its mouth then pounces back to Nate handing him the berry. "Keep it wrapped in your cute bushy little tail for now as we go on to battle some of these Wild Pokemon ok?" Poochyena nods and Nate places it on its back while Ruby swipes it up with its tail and wraps it around the berry keeping a nice grip on it until she may need it later. "Awesome. Now, which Pokemon do I think you can handle around here....how about..." Nate sees a small Pokemon rush towards the Greenberry Woods - by the looks of it he recalls their name to be a Rattata. It was a great first foe for the little canine to try and defeat. A wonderful beginner Pokemon to help growth as well. "Ruby, THAT ONE! Before it escapes use TACKLE!" Ruby gives a growl and rushes the little rodent type Pokemon with full speed darting its body at it like a missile to try and knock it down before it could scatter off for a first strike. If the rodent was quick enough, the move would be a total failure, but if Ruby was fast on its feet, the attack may very well hit and a battle can engage to help Ruby grow stronger. "If it works the first time, use it again before it gets back up!" Nate wasn't going to take any chances. He caught this Poochyena because it was quick, and it had potential. And he felt a calling to catch it, and now he must keep his side of the bargain, and raise it to be strong. Starting now. ___________________________________________

@natefyre, judging by your bio edits, I'm glad you remembered that Shadow earned 3 exp. points from battling the Poochyena, . The Rattata had been unable to dodge and dash away completely. As soon as it heard Nate give the command to his Poochyena, the Rattata turned in time to take the full brunt of Ruby's Tackle. The Rattata skid across the path from the force, but barely hesitated in darting back at Ruby to retaliate with its own Tackle. The Rattata seemed primed and ready for a battle. Mod Kris I know the rule is only 1 attack move and 1 non-attack move; but since Ruby only knows the one attack was hoping she could tackle twice in her turn this post. If not, I can edit it, just PM me! Status: Hyped
Nate was pleased to see that his Poochyena was able to hit the Rattata before it had a chance to dart away with a direct Tackle. He was happy he had caught a fast Pokemon; though its nerves about battling may be something needing some work, in general, Ruby was already proving to be a great candidate to his team. After successfully hitting the little rat, it turned to Nate and Ruby ready to strike back and initiates a Tackle attack right back at Ruby crashing into her ribs and sending her sliding backwards some ways but not entirely providing the impact to knock her down yet. Nate could tell it hurt, but it wasn't enough to cause too much concern yet. Ruby shakes off the pain after the attack and snarls at the Rattata getting low into an attack stance again ready to hit the rodent once more. Rattata wasn't done yet, however. Knowing Ruby had more power in her body against its own Tackle attack, the Rattata flipped around and wagged its tail suddenly causing Ruby to feel a bit weaker regarding stamina so the Wild Pokemon could have a bit more oomph to its next strike against the little doggo. Despite getting its defenses lowered, Ruby was still going to give the rat what for. Nate was trying to think in a clever sense on how he can do as much damage as possible to the Rattata before it gets another chance to send a more terrifying Tackle its way after the defense lowering tactic. He looks around at the battle environment and spots a nice stable tree with a wide trunk. He points at it and directs Ruby to utilize it. "Ok Ruby, this purple pain in the bum is trying to get you weakened to do more damage, so let's ensure we make our tackles as strong as we possibly can going forward. See that tree over there? Run at it as fast as you can pouncing onto the trunk and ricocheting off of it and right at the Rattata to get more speed and power out of another Tackle! Afterwards give a jump to the air once you hit it the first time and strike again from midair to keep the momentum going!" Ruby understands completely and barks with a nod to Nate. The Rattata looked a bit confused and in a nervous sweat unsure what was going on. Ruby with a confident grin across its muzzle rushes to the tree Nate guided it to and leaps onto it bouncing off its trunk and pinging itself back to the Rattata with amazing speed and force. The Wild Pokemon shrills unable to move quick enough to dodge this unique tactic and gets hammered by Ruby's body causing it to tumble aggressively across the dirt rolling several times. Then, as it was trying to help itself up, Ruby leaps from its hind legs into the air with the sunlight gleaming from its snout and thrusts itself into another Tackle at the Rattata driving it into the ground again causing it to almost make a small hole into the dirt with the impact. The rodent squeals in high pitched vocal responses to the attack and Ruby lands safely on her feet afterwards. Shadow dances with praise at Ruby's vicious attacks cheering her on with appreciation. "Way to go Ruby! Keep on the offense until its defeated!" Ruby howls as if proud of itself showing off its power the way it is. However, the Rattata was not finished off yet. After a few struggling moments, the Pokemon still manages to somehow get itself up to its feet. Battle stricken and full of scratches and scuffs, it stood its ground not quite giving up. Nate admires its tenaciousness and smirks. "For a tiny guy, I give you props trucking along like this. I would catch you to join us, but, I am running low on my Poke' Balls and kinda need to save those for some Pokemon on my list I have yet to catch. And Ruby really needs this training." This comment clearly pissed it off moreso and it chatters its teeth maliciously ready to strike again. Ruby The PoochyenaHP(80%): Dark | Female | Run Away

The Wild Rattata gives another Tail Whip motion lowering Ruby's defense even more causing it to start feeling somewhat dizzy as it watches the tail wag and then rushes in as fast as it could to get Ruby with a Tackle. However, due to how much the rodent has endured with this battle, it wasn't as quick and as effective as it wanted to be with its attack power. Nate commanded Ruby to dodge if it could. "Don't let it throw you off - side step the Tackle using those nimble paws of yours and keep those ears perked to hear its movement and dodge in time!" Ruby listened to Nate's command still feeling healthy and spry from this battle so far and listens carefully to the rat's footsteps then skips to the left just before the wild creature hits it and just barely avoids the Tackle attack. The Rattata after missing the move tries to put on the brakes and stops itself from crashing into something else and before it could turn around and maintain its balance Nate calls the next command. "Ruby! Tackle attack NOW WHILE IT'S TRYING TO RECOVER!" Ruby barks at the command and bolts to the Rattata as it turns around and rams it into the brush causing it to slam into a boulder and fall on its side completely unconscious. Nate waits a few moments to see if it tries to get back up, but, nothing. Judging by the velocity of the move and how hard it landed, Nate was pretty sure the creature was done for. Once he figured the battle was over, he gave a loud cheer to Ruby and congratulated her, as did Shadow with a celebratory wail. Ruby The PoochyenaHP(80%): Dark | Female | Run Away

Ruby rushes over to Nate and jumps into his arms licking his face happy at her victory. Nate pets the bristles on her head as they both rub cheeks and enjoy the achievement together. "You did it girl! Nice work! I knew you could do it!" Ruby yips in a satisfied tone glad to have such a caring Trainer. After the short celebration, Nate gently lets her back down and tries to find one more Pokemon nearby for her to battle before letting Shadow have a go at something around here and then calling it a day. Along the way, he also wanted to find more berries or food to heal his team as needed. "Let's keep looking for a few more battles before we call it good you guys. But let's see if we can find some more berries or food as well that could benefit us today as we go. Both of you are doing great! I am so proud!" Ruby and Shadow both show an audible smile to Nate at his comment and are ready for some more adventuring here. Through some wincing, Nate could swear he saw some more Berry trees not far deeper into the route, and points a bit further down the way for his Pokemon to investigate. "Shadow and Ruby, why don't you both head over down that way and see if anymore trees can produce some berries for us. I'll trail behind you and see what other Pokemon we can battle to finish the day off." The duo give a 'yes' response in their own vocal patterns then head down the path ahead a bit to see what food or medicine they can find. It would be interesting to see what other Pokemon could appear this deep down the Route and what natural goodies Nate can score with his team before heading back to safer pasture. ___________________________________________

@natefyre, Ruby earns 2 exp points! There was a rustling from some nearby bushes before another trio of Rattata appeared by their fallen friend. One, in particular, chattered angrily as Nate and his Pokemon passed by while the other two picked up their friend and dashed back away into the brush. The third Rattata followed momentarily. Perhaps the other wild Pokemon were getting warned about Nate and his team...
Regardless, heading down the path revealed the telltale trickle of water. Off to the right, a small stream wound its way through the tiny woodlands, no doubt leading into Route 13 by Greenberry Town. A Bidoof was washing its face right next to the stream, seemingly minding its own business, but its ears did perk up as it heard Nate's Pokemon wandering by. The Bidoof wouldn't be caught by surprise, at any rate.
Near the Bidoof was a cluster of growing mushrooms. There seemed to be one tiny mushroom that was ripe and ready to be picked, if anyone had the inclination.
Further down the path, there was another berry tree standing alone in the middle of a particular sunny patch from the sunlight streaming through the treetops. Shaking this tree may yield some ripe berries ready to fall off their branches. Shaking this tree may also rattle some Pokemon hidden inside the leafy branches.
Perched on this tree's trunk was a Blipbug, clinging to the bark in the way that Bug-types do. It didn't seem inclined to move, nor did it seem inclined to bother with anyone else around. Perhaps one can still pick berries around the Blipbug and it wouldn't mind at all.

Mod Kris Hoping to pick some more Oran Berries or anything that heals HP, but of course its whatever you decide Status: Cautious
As Nate and his Pokemon walked further down the route, they noticed some Rattata skitter off with their wounded friend glaring menacingly at Nate and company as they went. He tried not to notice. Moving right along, the group noticed a collective of mushrooms growing together not too much farther along the path as well as a Bidoof curiously cleaning itself in a water source across the way from the mushrooms. Ruby and Shadow start lingering the way of the Bidoof as if expected to attack it, but Nate stops them. "Wait up you two, we can leave that critter alone." Nate's team listens to their Trainer and continues following him down the path. Upon the last interesting thing that was seen during their stroll was exactly what Nate was looking for, that being the berry tree. This is where Nate decided to investigate and stop his movement for now.
He notices a little insect type Pokemon just chilling on a branch and giggles under his breath. He addresses his team. "I don't think we want to interrupt this little one's zen do we ?" Ruby and Shadow also giggle somewhat and nod thinking the insect was adorable as it hung there. "Hang tight and watch for any aggressive Pokemon coming our way as I pick these berries ok?" They both nod and watch Nate's back on guard as he picks some berries carefully from the tree trying not to annoy the content Pokemon.
He would pick as many as his hands could carry and stuff them into his coat pockets without being too loud or alerting any other Pokemon in the tree. Almost like his pick pocket days as a kid stealing from the local market. He would wait and see how many he could get before continuing his Pokemon Training as his team stood watch. ___________________________________________
