Tags: Raphael Green Happiness: Lilac - 1 (1/5), Jasper - 1 (1/5)Bryar tilted his head at the thought of the younger Pokemon not being old enough to practice battling. "I don't think so," Bryar said. "They're able to do attacks as soon as they hatch and, in the wild, I'm sure they're taught to defend themselves almost from the get-go.
"Of course, this is me speaking from experience after raising almost exclusively Grass-types," he continued. "Some of those species just put down roots and wait until they're strong enough to move on. Besides, with you keeping an eye on them, I'm sure they'll be just fine."
Bryar nearly snorted out his drink when Raphael bluntly gave his opinion about Sylveon's looks. "Yeah, a Sylveon may not fit in the aesthetics of your ranch, but I'm sure one will be fine on mine. If Lilac becomes one -- or even if she doesn't -- I'm sure we'll have some more play dates."
He gazed at Jasper and asked, "Out of curiosity, when did you evolve Nash? I know he evolves with a Leaf Stone."
He nodded. "Yeah, Tyson is my older brother, the pyro of the family. You two may get along well, although he's a bit... louder than you. He used to be in Cinnabar's gym, but he's similar to Ava in the sense that he doesn't like to stay in one place for too long. Too much energy. Now he's wandering around Kalos searching for new Fire-types and, apparently, trying to do the gym challenge with such a team."

(Tags: Bryar Glasse, maybe end the thread soon? This was awesome, but I'm running low on things to say.) Happiness: Gizmo - 1 (2/5), Lexi - 1 (2/5), Violet - 1 (2/5)"You and your flowers," Raphael said with a scoff, a crooked smile on his face to show he was teasing. He turned his gaze toward the younger Pokemon still tumbling around with each other. "Makes sense, though. When I lived with my parents, we raised different types, but mostly Ground-, Fire- and Water-types, being in Vermilion City and living near the Diglett Tunnels. Types that were hard-hitters with physical moves. We raised a few Oddish and Bellsprout here and there, but most ten-year-old wannabe master trainers were interested in fire-breathing lizards. My folks were extremely careful about the young Pokemon practicing their battle moves, if they encouraged it at all..."Raphael raised an eyebrow at Bryar's snort, but chuckled at the other man's amusement. "More play dates is fine with me. Get them all socialized and everything.
"Not that long ago, actually," Raphael said regarding Nash. "It was probably right before the old Gaia Ranch, before one of the last gym battles I ever did with my team before settling down. Pansage seems to learn all the moves rather than Simisage, you know? A few of Nash's better moves were TMs I had before coming here. It's a versatile species that way, at least."Bryar spoke of Tyson and Raphael chuckled lightly at what Bryar's older brother's latest ambition was. "Well, good luck to him. That sounds like a tough challenge. It'd be interesting to know what kind of species he finds. I haven't had the chance to go to Kalos yet."

Tags: Raphael Green, sounds good. This was great! Happiness: Lilac - 1 (2/5), Jasper - 1 (2/5)Bryar shook his head in amusement at Raphael's scoff, but listened as the other man told Bryar about his parents. "I suppose that's true," Bryar murmured, thinking of how popular most Fire-types were with new trainers. "I remember that Chimchar was one of the most requested starter from Professor Rowan back in Sinnoh. Most new trainers just want to be the very best battler, I suppose."
Raphael spoke of Nash and the Pansage and Simisage line, and Bryar hummed in thought. "That seems to be the case with many stone evolutions, if you think about it. Stronger bodies, but not many new moves that can be learned naturally over time. It's curious. Maybe it's because the body is, more or less, forced into evolving... Without a more natural evolution, there's not many natural moves to learn.
"He'll need it," Bryar said, regarding Tyson and luck. "He has a Chikorita, somehow, as back-up and he mentioned trying to find a Water-type to help round out his team, but I'm still not sure how he's going to go through a region's gym challenge without a more diverse team. He's stubborn enough, anyway."
Bryar put his empty glass into the sink and stretched. "Thanks for hospitality, but I should probably grab my little ones and get back to Wildrose. It was great seeing you, and Gizmo. We'll have to plan more hang outs for the siblings."
With a small wave to Raphael and the other man's Pokemon, Bryar rounded up Lilac and Jasper before disappearing down the road.
